. . . really messes with my internal calendar. My entire life, it was a June tournament which trickled into July, with the finals often over July 4th weekend. It feels like it should be over already.

Federer in typical, breezy early-round form. Looks great. But then, he always looks unbeatable right up to the time someone beats him. Still, a 10th anniversary Federer/Nadal final would be great to see, and historic as well -- something like that has never happened before.

Sloane Stephens's loss was a disappointment. She had done great work over the last year, but she didn't show up today. With Serena seeded in the 20s, the women's side is wide open.

My gf and I sneaked off to see Wimbledon back in 1975. It was amazing, unlike Forest Hills or Flushing Meadow. I am sure
Sloane was heavily distracted.

This Dimitrov/Wawrinka match is like a second-week match in the first round. That's what happens when a top player (Waw) drops way out of the seedings.

I guess they're going back to 16 seeds for the majors next year, so there's a lot of potential for these kinds of early-round matchups going forward.
