Eagles get nixed from White House ceremony

Sorry to have to comment on another of your lies, but Tebow was never blackballed, he lacked talent.

He was a box office superstar that had a cult following. The talent was not the problem. He led his team the Denver Broncos which were dead in the water and resurrected them into the second round of the playoffs.

A protester interrupted President Trump's "Celebration of America" event after he canceled a visit with the Philadelphia Eagles. The protestor told Trump to "stop hiding behind the National Anthem."

Man, that's low. I would have taken a club and WHACK that protester in the noggin' Trump would have gladly paid the legal fees because protesting during a celebration? What a disgrace. He should be caged.

He got blackballed from the NFL as well. So he and Kaepernick were treated equally, the difference being is that Tebow was discriminated because of his faith.

I don't know what you are smoking but I want some. Tebow blows as a QB. That is why he is experimenting with baseball.

Did Obama serve? Or did he just smoke a little dope and do some coke?

He also voted present over a 150 times...……………...talk about cowards?

Just what in Hell's F'n Bells does ANY of this have to do with Obama????

Damn man...get a grip.

Again, let me point out that the average NFL player has 3.3 years of college with nearly 1/2 earning their college degrees. Among retired NFL players, the college graduation rate is 80% (compared to 30% of the general population), meaning that even if NFL players do not finish before starting their NFL careers, they are, as a group, highly committed to their education. This makes NFL players better educated than any other major professional sport, higher than the population as a whole and certainly higher than the average Trump supporter.

LOL -- I know all about that.

Those players attended college on athletic scholarships. For only half of them to have completed a degree is shameful, considering they almost certainly got free rides. And, do you know what happens when a star athlete does poorly in a subject? Girlfriends do his homework for him and coaches pressure professors to give him a passing grade. The education level of an athlete who ekes out a "D" in most of his courses, isn't comparable to the non-athletic student who does his own work, takes harder classes, and gets "A's."

"Better educated" my ass.

There's quite a difference between celebrating a teams accomplishments, and "worshiping" them.

Sports, much like all the arts and other activities are wonderful distractions from the struggles and pains of daily life for many.
Sports are also rather large money makers for many. They provide employment for thousands, not just the players themselves.

While you may not like it, sports play a rather important role for a great many people.
And like it or not, those players that make an ungodly amount of money are also making it possible for many others to earn money too.

Those of us who get emotionally invested in a team will gladly celebrate and take great pride when things go well.
We'll also suffer through many many years of disappointment, let-down, embarrassment, and frustration.

None of which I'd call "worshiping".

We do worship them, and this is just another example. People wear their brands, beleive what they say, visit their temples and give them money. It gets worse when we talk about politicians because we treat them as if they are better than us. When do I get invited to the white house?

And what are they majoring in? Fitness? Communications? Sports Pyschology? It would be interesting to see a study of career paths for athletes who didnt go Pro. Not that non athletes are probably better. I have a music and politics education and I work in IT.

You could start by surgically inflating your ass and breasts...then make a sex tape...and then perhaps you can get an invite to Trump's WH. :lamo

You're being over-dramatic.

You are pulling information from your ass. There no factual basis for any of the above assertions. Certainly that happens, but it also happens in the general college population. Apparently you didn't read any of the references I offered or your response would be more on point.... let's see some third party support for your statements. Each sounds rooted in gossip and ignorance.

There are also plenty of college football players and NFL players that go on to get graduate degrees, but we are not arguing anecdotes, we are talking about the population as a whole. But, if you want to think a few cut corners to get by, then consider those remarkable ones on the end...

Once again, 80% of ex-NFL players have college degrees compared to 30% of the population as a whole. They are better educated than the average Trump supporter. A degree is conferred for meeting the academic standards of the college. There is no grade on the degree. The last person to graduate in a medical school is still called "Doctor"... do you know the GPA of your doctor or dentist?

This University of Michigan study shows that Ex-NFL players are better educated, have lower divorce rates, are better social adjusted and generally more successful than the population as a whole. Again, a much better argument could be made that the fan base are the Neanderthals....

Ignorance debating ignorance is a waste of everyone's time. It has no place on DP; and I certainly don't tolerate ignorance debating me. Don't be that guy.

Perhaps you are merely suffering from an acute case of jock envy?

The NFL recruits mainly from colleges, right? So, of course the players are likely to have degrees. Mostly junk degrees.

You're right -- there's no grade on the degree -- which means just the having of a degree doesn't necessarily translate into "being educated."

Let's read what a guy who's actually been through the athletic college scene has to say.

If You're a College Athlete, Your Degree May Mean Next to Nothing

No worries there, you've pretty much got the market cornered on that one.

Jock envy? LOL

I'm female.

And while a few (and I mean very few) top athletes are smart cookies, by and far, the majority are dumb as bricks. I understand that Americans like watching them run around and bash into each other on the field -- that's probably a carryover in our genetics from the days when we cheered as gladiators fought to the death and lions tore Christians limb from limb. We have a violent history, we do.

I'm sure you can point to some successful post-NFL personalities, but most college athletes don't make the NFL, and most of them end up in great jobs selling insurance, coaching Little League, or some other such career.

Why do you think NFL popularity is at an all-time low?

Or wait for a Clinton and just pay to sleep over!

That statement was a bit reckless and classless.

That statement was a bit reckless and classless.

Just tears your soul apart that your boy-friend quarterback and your wet-dream team lost a Superbowl doesn't it?
That the juggernaut of Patriot dominance ground to a halt?

You're full of nothing but spoiled rotten sour grapes.
It's quite laughable.

Even more laughable that YOU'D point a finger at anyone and claim "classless".
