Nothing special... De Gea ****ed up again. Only place Ronaldo could really shoot as he does not have the skill to place the ball very well (relative to a real free kick specialist) and relies more on power. As soon as I saw the set up of the wall.. it was a given he would score if he managed to get over the wall. Mostly he does not mange to get over the wall, or if he does it is like 20 km over. He has very little ball control when taking free kicks (relative again to the real experts through out history and current).

We also know now, that he is a protected player. Stopping the game just because he lays down.. what is up with that?

Not going to derail the thread and argue all day about it but I can't let that one go through to the keeper without simply saying.....

He is an incredible player, no arguments there, but he's not GOAT.

Man scores a hatrick which was capped off by a great free kick. I don’t care where you put that wall it was going in.

But yet you won’t give him credit because he’s a Real Madrid player?

I think that all-time greatest discussions are pretty stupid. You cannot compare players in different positions, different eras, different leagues and conclude that this person playing in goal in Russia in the 1960s was greater than a midfielder playing in Brazil in the 1980s or a striker playing in Spain in the 2010s. You simply cannot judge them on the same criteria. It's difficult even to compare Ronaldo and Messi, playing in the same league as attacking midfielders, because they play in such different styles. All I think you can say about CR that is undeniable is that he is prodigiously talented, unbelievably focused and a monster of egotism and self-regard, but Greatest Of All Time? That's like trying to compare Alexander the Great, Alfred the Great and Peter the Great. Which was the greatest?
 
Wow! That was a very underwhelming first half performance from France. They looked lifeless, uninterested and lacking motivation. Australia looked committed, eager and determined. On paper France should hammer Australia but after the first 10 minutes of French pressure Australia looked the more likely scorers. Mooi has been by far the best player on the pitch so far.

France favourites to win the WC? Not on this form.

Same issue as the Euros for France they really struggle to break down teams and don’t want to roll up their sleeves.

Watching scrappy ****ing Iceland, who on paper is so wildly outmatched by Argentina, go toe to toe with Messi and Co is amazing.

I appreciate Refs who recognize that sometimes handballs are just accidents and don't lose their **** over it.
 
Doesn't get much better.....Iceland/Argentina tied at the half, beautiful morning and a cold Belgian Wheat. Iceland has the longest throw-in I've ever seen......

They defend in numbers and are quick on the counter. And they throw-in the best I've seen.

Should have had a second penalty but ref is an idiot... VAR is there for a reason. Was more contact on Pavon than on Ronaldo yesterday...
