Best and Worst Sports Towns

The Rams are looking good in the power rankings.

Fans are fickle in Tinseltown though. Hell, they went over 20 years without a football team.

What is in Miami besides the beach? I've been there. It's a horrible town. The beach is all it has. The weather sucks balls too.

World class fishing and diving. World class night life. Bayside, downtown. Coconut Grove. Nearby... The Everglades. The Keys.

Not everywhere is a flyover state or Podunk Texas.

The food alone is worth a trip to Miami. Los Ranchos at Bayside remains one of my favorite places. But, man, Cuban food, Peruvian food, Puerto Rican food, Asian, Caribbean and the seafood is some of the best in the world. There is so much to see and do. And you can take the commuter train, I forget the name of it, from downtown Miami all the way up to Fort Lauderdale for about $7.00 one way. Little Havana is fun. So is Calle Ocho, and not just the festival. Bone fishing in the Keys is a kick. Miami and south Florida have a lot going on.

We're including quality as well.

Giants have two superbowls in the last 10 years. Yankees win day and night. Rangers have a great fan base and occasionally rise. Devils do a great job. So who is it you are trashing?

Basketball surprisingly bad lately....but I think New York measures up to Detroit pretty well.

Root root root for the home team, as they say...

I suggest Boston belongs in your top category.

People in LA will only watch sports if the team is winning, otherwise, they dont give a ****.

The best baseball city is St. Louis.

Their record is pretty hard to argue against.

If their football stadium wasn't closer to Connecticut and Rhode Island than it is Boston, I'd probably agree. But, there is no way I could credit Boston with being the home of the Patriots. So, they'd have to be in the individual categories of baseball, basketball and hockey.

Seems like a technicality to me since those are all tiny and tightly bunched states. But I'm not going to argue the point.

It's New England's team. I guess I never saw then as representing Boston. But, yeah. That is a technicality.

I see via Google that Foxboro is within 50 miles of the city. Funny, I never knew that.

Plus all the parades etc are hosted in Boston.

i agree with the "rabid" characterization

Miami is a tough market for sports team. Probably worse than LA.

They have some nice restaurants and tourists spots. I would probably avoid the Summer though.

Yeah, there is a lot going on all around Miami which makes it tough. Also, very, very few people in Miami are from there. There isn't the local connection that you have in places like Pittsburg or Chicago.

Worst sports towns based on departing teams in fairly recent history

San Diego-- lost the NFL Chargers and NBA Clippers and Rockets
KC--lost the NBA Kings, AL Athletics and NHL Scouts
St Louis--lost the NFL Cardinal & Rams and NBA Bombers and Hawks
Oakland--lost the Raiders, twice, and the Warriors once, plus the Seals in the NHL.

Lol. Inferiority complex much?

I travel...a lot...There are some great places in this country. Miami is not one of them.

That depends much on what you're looking for.

I've lived in Europe and Africa for years, not merely traveled. When the choice is cow tipping or a stinky stadium, sure I guess I'd pick football. I'm not faulting anyone. Geography just is what it is. Kansas and Topeka Texas are nowheres.

There are towns built around military bases, ports, beaches/tourism, industries, universities... College football, now there Florida pwns. Modern era Natl Championships for Miami, FSU and UF dwarf any other State, easily 10x most States. Plus UCF, USF even FIU.

But Fort Worth. What's that built around? A drug trafficking hub.

And Kansas, don't even joke. The name is laughable.
