This thread may be short lived. For the first time in forever, Tiger has a share of the lead heading into the weekend of a golf tournament.

Tiger Woods tied atop leaderboard after second-round 68 at Valspar | Golfweek

He's already surprised me. Not so much with his play, but more so his attitude and generally newfound cordialness. I honestly thought he was toast and on his way to Mike Tysonville. Hell, I do not even care if he wins. I just want to see him play well and continue not being an asshole.

I hope this thread has legs, and we're talking positively about Tiger for the next four or five months.

Let's see.

I must admit, I've always liked comeback stories.

I think that the DUI was his bottom, it looks like he embarrassed himself, as for any meaningful comeback to include winning another major I tend to doubt it.

He has changed though, and he has the will of a mule....it could happen in theory.

I like comeback stories but Tiger was born with superior talent enhanced it with PEDs, cheated on his wife and then his girlfriend and became addicted to drugs. He is just an all around awful person, I don’t wish ill on him but I’m not rooting for to win like I was in 1997

I've never been a Tiger fan, and to be honest I'm still not. BUT 1 thing is for sure, he energizes the sport of golf like no other athlete can/does energize his/her sport.

I get up every morning read the headlines and news. 95% of the mornings there ain't a damn thing about golf, but if Tiger is in a tournament and playing good, then there's a golf story 100% of the time.

I was speaking of comeback stories in "life".

To overcome divorce & addiction takes a bit of internal fortitude. I'd suspect even a bit more fortitude is required, with having all of your troubles aired in real-time in the public spotlight.

So yeah, when a fellow brother of humanity overcomes obstacles & adversity to turn their lives around, I like that. It gives me faith in my fellow man, and we need that now, with the pall over the country due to the Trump era.

In other sports, you have such a small window to accomplish your goals because once age hits in, your done.

Golf is a bit different as you have a much longer time frame. I fully expect Tiger to pass Jack.

From the article I posted above.

He had a one-shot lead over Woods, Brandt Snedeker and Justin Rose as he goes after his first PGA Tour victory before a crowd rarely seen this side of a major. Thousands bordered on a delirium for just about every shot Woods hit, especially when he chipped in for birdie behind the ninth green, holed a 20-foot birdie putt at No. 10 and gave himself birdie chances inside 8 feet on the next two holes.
Woods missed them both to slow his momentum. He dropped only one shot and finished with four straight pars in his round of 67. It was his fifth straight round at par or better, his longest stretch in the same season since September 2013.

If he really can come back, not just to start winning tournaments again but to redeem himself as a human being, shining bright in the spotlight, being likable, talking about his kids and relating to the audience on a level that the younger Tiger never could quite manage to do, it certainly will be one heck of a nice story. Can final chapter Tiger do justice to the man, his sport, his fans, and give us all something good to hold onto and cheer about?

Tiger bangs hos and is still cheered. All Trump gets is grief.

Good for Tiger.

We'll see.....

Damn, Woods dropped two strokes down the stretch and fell off the lead by four as he finished out the round. Oh well, better luck next time.

Even if his body is sound now which is not very likely it is hard to imagine him coming up with the mental soundness that is needed to win at his age with this much time spent in the gutter.

Yes it could happen, but all these people who are betting in Vegas that he will win in Augusta have a screw loose in my not so humble opinion:

Asked for his reaction to the Masters odds, Woods said, “There’s a lot of gamble-oholics out there,”

I agree with this assessment, which is why I am sort of rooting for the old man now.

 Sometimes being wrong is good. :)

Tiger was such a character, it would be awesome if he could provide some more fun this long after I had given up on him. As an erotic adventurer I have a soft spot for guys who throw it all away on women, guys like Tiger.

Amen.

Tiger's return makes things more interesting, but I prefer the PGA tour when there's no clear-cut favorite.
