blind referees[1].jpg

Usually those dogs will catch that kind of a foul.

Well, I've been saying all year long, not wanting it, but I think after the DOZENS of bad calls that cost teams games during the regular season(Steelers/Saints is 1 off the top of my head), and now what happened in the playoffs for all the world to see. I think a major change is coming via replay and penalties.

IDK how they will do it. Allow more 'challenges'? Handle the blatantly bad calls straight from NY? IDK, but after these games yesterday, something has to happen..

I would be curious to hear what the ref told Sean Payton on the sideline after Payton complained. Surely they replayed it on the big screen there and the refs could see that.

During the game I wrote here asking why during the year the Refs called a million penalties, but when the playoffs start they swallow their whistles. It's inconsistent as hell. And I 'think' that had something to do with that non-call yesterday. I saw defensive line-men break through heading for the QB, and then get grabbed and thrown down, but no call!!! There was all sorts of grabbing and holding in the defensive backfields going on by both sides, no calls.

I'm guessing the refs were letting so much go on that by the end of the game, they weren't going to start calling penalties then. So they let it go..

I'm not excusing it, it was a terrible non-call and it cost N.O. a SB appearance. But again I think all of this will probably lead to some kind of booth review for penalties. I'm not in favor of that, BUT maybe it will add some consistency to the officiating.

I like neither the Pats nor the Rams, so I doubt I will stay up just to watch the SB.

On the NFC championship game, the NFL needs to make pass interference calls open to coaching challenges. The refs were downright terrible, almost as bad as the Eagles Bears playoff game.

Jeez, allow pass interference calls open to coaching challenge? Why not allow holding to be open to challenges as well? That's going to make the game even longer.

upon further review...it probably WAS Pass Interference.

But the officiating was so ridiculously wrong it cost the Saints a bid to the SB. How about allowing those challenges during playoff games? Thats a compromise I can live with.

Obviously a bad call at the end of that saints game but let’s not forget they started with the ball in over OT in their house and still couldn’t get it done.

Nope, and they lost to the better team.

And as disheartening and painful as this was, it wasn't really surprising.

Saints took a lot of hits towards the end of the season. Most of them weren't big names and so hardly anyone outside New Orleans took note, but the Saints depth got decimated towards the playoffs.

They lost their starting TE Ben Watson before the NFCCG, and Kirkwood as well. The entire O Line was banged up in one way or another. The Saints were incredibly thin on offense, outside of Michael Thomas and Kamara all they had were guys like Tommy LeeLewis and Tre'Quan Smith (both young and inexperienced), Ted Ginn (coming off of injury), and they lost another TE early in the first quarter I believe. Losing Rankings on the D line was a huge blow.

Rams were the better team. They earned their place in the Super Bowl. I just wish it was Drew and the Saints instead.

If he wins the Superbowl, it is Brady. One of the rookies of this season IMHO is Sony Michel. That guy is a beast on the field, I mean he can run like the wind and smash through lines.

The most powerful gift TB12 possess is his ability to forge bonds and friendships. Gronk threatened to retire if the Patriots would have traded him to the Lions. He is literally willing inferior talent to elevate their game because his teammates BELIEVE in him. His trust in Edelman, Gronk, and Hogan makes them better receivers.

His leadership and inspiration are evident. The greatest strength we have is people is that we are all different unique beings through the image of God. Football is a brotherhood.

I will miss him when he retires. It will leave a big hole in my heart.

which is your preference, quick or accurate?

This has been the talk all day long. Sounds like the NFL is going to be under pressure to do something...

Some interesting ideas: 1-- just allow penalty replays the last 2 mins. of the game....

2--- 3 coaches penalty challenges per team for the game.... Just 3...

3----allow NY to stop the game and look at a play if they see a very bad penalty call, or non call...

4-----since PI is a game changing penalty, not the usual 5 or 10 yd penalty... It could be a 60 yd penalty or whatever, then only allow PI calls, or lack of a call, to be reviewed..

The most powerful gift TB12 possesses is an excellent offensive line. They had more to do with the Pats' win than anyone else.

So what? Last night's win belonged to the O-line. TB12 was very average.

He wasn’t very average, Mahomes was average Brady had a good game. Threw for over 300 yards and when it mattered took them down the field on two clutch drives.

I’m not getting into the whole Brady argument but at a certain point it gets ridiculous. It’s not a coincidence that he continues to win these shootouts in huge games.

Brady/Pats: 1 TD, 2 interceptions, but 176 rushing yards and 4 sacks
Mahomes/Chiefs: 3 TD's, 0 interceptions and only 41 rushing yards and 0 sacks

Mahomes outplayed Brady, but the Pats' O-line was the difference.

Mahomes threw for less than 40 yards at home in the first half and allowed himself to get sacked which pushed them out of fg range. Stop talking rubbish.

So what? He was under pressure all night. Brady wasn't. Yet he clearly outplayed Brady.
The Pats' O-line was the difference.

He wasn’t under that much pressure, i think he was only sacked twice? His issue was the coverage, Bills gameplan nullified him for the first half in his own house.
But sure he “ outplayed “ Brady, whatever narrative works i guess.

Two pretty exciting games and the biggest story lines, once again, is the terrible excuse for officiating this league puts forward week after week - and with just two games being played, these officials are presumably the cream of the crop - pathetic.

As a Steelers fan, I have little or not sympathy for the New Orleans Saints and their fans. The Saints were gifted their first and last touchdowns in the game against the Steelers, a game the Saints won by 3 points. Without that undeserved win, the Steelers would have been in the playoffs and the Saints would have had to play on the road in LA yesterday.

The only team in the league that has little to complain about when it comes to officials is the Cheatriots whom, miraculously, seem to be on the winning end of every upheld or overturned decision made by replay. Even when no one else can see the video evidence, replay officials manage to find enough evidence to benefit the Cheatriots every time.

Looking forward to watching Tom Brady join Jim Kelly as the only two starting QBs to lose four Super Bowls, presuming the officials don't save the day for him.

I already gave you the stat. Mahomes was sacked four times.
3 TD's & 0 INT vs 1 TD and 2 INTs. Yes, Mahomes outplayed Brady.
