[W:549] Nfl 2018

And your guy never broke all those records that I listed. I could say "Starr never threw most TD passes in a SB, never had most completed passes, etc., etc." Besides, playcalling is not all in quarterbacking. You also need to execute. Basically your claim resides in only two items: that he had a better W/L playoff percentage which is a Team stat, and he called his own plays. Brady not only matches that team stat, but also has all the dozens of records I quoted (which Starr didn't have) including the personal ones that are not team stats.

People like to quote some old timer as the GOAT to appear cute, smart, and well-informed...

But if we look into the claim with any depth, we'll see that Brady has accumulated more records than anyone else, thus, he is the GOAT.

I said it is topic about which there will be disagreement. I don't begrudge your opinion, and I'm not trying to "appear" as anything.
I don't think Brady is as good as Starr was.
And Starr never cheated.

I'm not saying that you necessarily did it for the reasons I quoted in my second paragraph. I'm just saying that some people do that. Maybe you aren't one of them, and you do believe in what you're saying.
But yes, I disagree. For me, Brady is the GOAT.
About the cheating, I'm NOT a Patriots fan, but I don't subscribe to the notion of cheating. Deflategate was a joke (just Goodell trying to be tough and trying to save his cushy job at a time when owners were upset at him for supposedly favoring his friend Robert Kraft), and Spygate was not Brady's doing. Both incidents were minor and no different from what other teams do, but because it involved the hated Patriots, they got blown out of proportion.

It's a well-known fact in sports that when a team is superior to the others, it gets to be hated. That's all that the Patriots are guilty of: being better than the average NFL team, most of the time, in the last several years.

He crossed the line when he destroyed his phone.

He crossed the line when he destroyed his phone.

Again, possibly his footballs were a bit deflated as a matter of preference. Others have done the same, others prefer them over-inflated... In the second half of the Colts game with the balls supposedly at regulation pressure, he did even better. Like I said, a minor issue.

He destroyed his phone, possibly for unrelated reasons (maybe he had a text message there inviting Gronk to come over for a threesome with Gisele, LOL), but even if it was related, it was in response to Goodell's unreasonable persecution. He was probably guilty of deflating the balls a little which in my opinion is not a big deal and doesn't qualify as hardcore cheating, and didn't want to give Goodell the satisfaction of ultimate proof, if there was something in his phone. It's all very doubtful because the NFL did have the text messages from the recipients, so, no real point in destroying his own phone (which he had done before, for unrelated reasons).

Recently I dismantled and destroyed five hard disks of old laptops before sending them to the landfill, due to the risk of identity theft, and I'm not a celebrity. For someone like Brady, having an old phone around is potentially much more of a problem. So, like he said, when he upgrades phones he destroys the old one. That's one explanation.

Like I said, if this explanation is phony (pun intended) and there was something related to Deflategate in the phone (as opposed to stuff about his wife, for example, as simple as sexting to her), it's still no big deal, because Deflategate itself was no big deal, as far as real cheating goes.

Who cares if some quarterbacks manipulate a little the ball pressure to fit their preferences, up or down? Others have done it.

If Goodell didn't want to appear tough (due to the issue of Robert Kraft, and due to previous complacency with domestic violence, he was on the hot seat), Deflategate would never have happened. It would have ended in a minor equipment fine, case closed.

Deflategate and its ridiculous expenses (even involving tax-payer money that funds the court system) was exclusive the idiotic Goodell's doing.

As a non-Patriots fan I don't like that Brady wins so much... But I dislike Goodell much more.

This is not a court of law. In my view he marked himself as a cheater when he destroyed his phone. I'm not required to accord him due process.

Deflategate should have ended with a minor equipment fine ($25,000), case closed. Other equipment violations have ended this way. Like I said, it's because it was Brady and the Pats, and because of Goodell's personal ambition, that a big deal was made of it. Ridiculous.

So, being annoyed and irritated with the ridiculousness, no wonder Brady didn't cooperate.

And again, maybe he destroyed the phone because it contained intimate pictures or text related to his wife. We'll never know. It doesn't prove that he is a cheater. It just proves that he didn't want the content of his phone publicized, and didn't want to endorse Goodell's unreasonable witch hunt.

By the way, the case did end up in a court of law, so yes, he was entitled to due process.

“Witch hunt” :lamo

As the weather forecast for KC gets worse and the expected game time temp drops, the Over/Under is also dropping... lol

It now is 54.5.. Pretty low for 2 teams that racked up almost 90 points in their game earlier this year.

I guess The Rams played on a different field.

Jerry Jones thinks the Rams' slippery field hurt the Cowboys in playoff loss...

He said:

“I’ve had the benefit of the tape, looking at the tape, the evaluation by both scouts as well as the coaches. We frankly had never gotten traction. And I mean that literally. That was a slippery field. If I had to do it over again, we would be really scrutinizing our footwear. Our cleats. We had trouble digging in, so to speak.

“Well you say, ‘That’s an excuse.’ It is not because not only physically but we had trouble digging in with just the effectiveness of our defense. And we did not stop them, and we did not stop the run.”

At what temperature does it become dangerous?

No idea. Word is now game time temperature might be around - 5 f.. But I remember many games played in below 0 double digit temperatures. So - 5 won't be a concern. But it will cool off the scoring.

I wonder who it will suit better? Id probably say Brady just because he has more experience in these temps than Mahomes.

He crossed the line when he destroyed his phone.

Yup, that to me is clear evidence of his guilt. Innocent people dont destroy evidence.

Circumstantial evidence at best.

A high profile individual like Tom Brady needs to go through a new phone every month or so. Brady isn't just a famous guy. He's a football god and married to the most famous supermodel in the world. Plus he has kids. It would be dangerous for him to not destroy his phone.

I see many on this forum think pat Mahomes is better than Brady.... are you kidding me?

Mahomes has a proclivity for turnovers. He is untested.

So many times people bet against brady and the pats. Vegas will make a killing again.

He's not entitled to due process in the court of my opinion. I find him guilty of cheating; he convicted himself by destroying his phone.

James Harrison on Tom Brady:

A bitter rival of Tom Brady’s for much of his career, Harrison told FS1’s Undisputed that he was never able to hate the New England Patriots quarterback and gushed about how great of a teammate he was during Harrison’s stint with the Patriots last year.

“Believe me, I wanted to hate this dude with a passion,” Harrison told Undisputed co-host and Hall-of-Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe. “I get there and I’m like, ‘Dude, he’s the ultimate teammate.’”

Harrison also called Brady “the truth.”

“I’m up there, and it was [during] the snowstorm they had. It was [a] crazy, crazy blizzard,” Harrison said. “Cats are like, ‘Man, we really got to go outside?’ Tom goes, ‘Hey, stop complaining. Let’s go.’ He takes off out there with just the little sleeves and all that for practice, like it was nothing. Hey man, he’s the truth. I’m not going to lie.”

The retired linebacker said that he even told Brady that he wanted to hate him during his time with the Steelers, and Brady simply laughed at the remark.

What a telling comment from a future hall of fame defensive player.

I met Tom Brady once at an autograph session and I will admit, the way he carries himself and the way he speaks, I felt inspired... something I don't feel very often. Not trying to make a big deal about it however he carries himself in a way that only a few great individuals do. I am not sure what it is.... he's just a special guy.

Nah, he just cheats. :2razz:

His performance against a top ten defense in the Chargers was virtually flawless.

I really didn't see him make even 1 mistake. It was thrilling.

Well, since you are your own DA, your own judge, and your own jury, then there is no argument to be had with you, right? Whatever, then.

Exactly, a 41-yo QB has a flawless performance like that, and detractors say that all he does is cheating. Unreal. These people just don't want to admit how talented and how good an athlete TB is.

And Nixon was a fine President, except for the, uh, cheating.
