[W:549] Nfl 2018

They (Pats) keep finding Edelman type receivers. Decker, Amendola and others; all about the same build but with great hands and instincts.

Aside: Why do you think the Belichek coaching tree hasn’t been more successful in placing head coaches? McDaniels, Crennell, Weis, Patricia (only in his first year). They are saying that Pats are losing an asst to Miami HC.

That is an excellent question. If you look at many of the Andy Reid coaches, they have been very successful. I don't know. What I do know is that Belichick will do anything to win. I remember an NFL film about Don Shula where before a Super Bowl, the opponent playbook was presented to him. He got rid of it as he had no interest to win that way. I think Belichick would take it.

The Eagles are dead. Gutted. Done. Finished. Love it!!

How anticlimactic. No upsets. The most predictable playoffs. #1 and #2 from each conference move on. I hate when it happens. I like upsets. They make it entertaining. I liked Philadelphia's improbable run last season.

Well, of course, we want to see good teams facing each other in the conference championships, and we surely got that. But I still prefer a good successful underdog story.

People said the same thing about Brady in 2001

You cannot compare the two. Brady was a young 24 year old fresh quarterback. Foles is 29 and turning 30 in a few weeks.

Foles has three seasons in which he played in the playoffs. If you forget about last year, in the 2 other years he is on a negative score, won one and lost two. And even the one from last week was a fluke. If the kicker of the Bears had done his job, Foles would have lost last week.

Foles has started 44 games in his 7 year career. That is on average about 6 and a bit games started per season. In 2015 he started his higher number of games, 11. Of which 4 were won and 7 lost. His highest year total of yards was 2891. His highest number of touchdowns in a season was 27.

Brady has 267 starts, he regularly does 16 game seasons plus playoffs. In his 7th year (remember this is season 7 for Foles) he threw 50 touchdowns and 4806 yeards.

Brady has a 207 to 60 win loss column. Foles has a 28-16 record.

Brady has won 28 playoff games and lost 10. His average passer rating according to wiki is 97.6, Foles is on average 61.6

Foles may be a good QB, but he isn't anywhere close to Brady, that is just a fact of life.

And they could have pulled it off had Jeffrey caught that ball. Proud of my team -- no head hanging this off season.

They will be excellent next year again, play Wentz, land a great running back like Bell from the Steelers and it is a playoff team yet again. But this time I would think in the top 2, making them not have to go through wild card weekend.

SB prediction: Pats 31 - Rams 24

I believe the Saints will have their hands full with the run game of the Rams. Gurley and CJ Anderson could light up the Saints defense big time. Those 2 are running back beasts.

Yeah, they didn't impress me enough vs the Eagles to give me confidence to take them against the Rams. I'd rather see Brees vs. Brady though. They may go down as the two best of all time.

That would be great but what I DO NOT WANT TO SEE is Mahomes v. Goff. Either Brees or Brady has to make it to the SB, I would love that both would get there but that is a big ask of the 2 quarterbacks.

LOL, you went through a lot of trouble to prove that Brady is a better QB than Foles. Duh. Yes, he is. Who doesn't know that? Actually arguably (although some opinions differ but he is definitely in the conversation) he is simply the GOAT. Who would include Foles in the GOAT conversation?

I think the other guy who said what you responded to, was just being cute.

Why wouldn't you want to see Mahomes? Why not see an excellent young quarterback, trying to get into the elite conversation? I think Mahomes does have the potential for being one of the greats. I'd like to see him play in his first Super Bowl. It's a very compelling story. If you don't hate the Chiefs with a passion for some other reason, I wouldn't know why someone would not want to see Mahomes play. As for Goff, I don't care a lot about him, but I do enjoy seeing Mahomes.

I mean, no offense intended, you're entitled to your opinion and to your likes and dislikes. I'm just curious about the reason why you don't want to see Mahomes.

I said I would not want to see Mahomes against Goff. Mahomes against Brees is OK. Brady against Goff is good (from my Patriots point of view) and Brady against Brees would be awesome. But not Mahomes against Goff. That is what I would not like to see.

Ah, OK. Understood. I'd also like to see Mahomes against Brees.

Sure, Brees against Brady would be a great game.

I'd still prefer to see Mahomes playing in the SB because Bree has won one, Brady has won several, so, Mahomes would be a change.

For those like me who aren't a fan of one of these four teams, we hope for a good game and some variation, that's why I'd love to see Mahomes.

Someone like Mahomes cannot be trusted. He eats mac and cheese with ketchup. I would never trust anyone like that.

I like Mahomes, but as a Patriots fan I cannot go against the GOAT, so I hope it is Brady who wins next week but either way we are going to get into uncharted territory next week. If Brady wins he will be in his 9th super bowl, if Mahomes wins he will be the first rookie QB in the super bowl. I just hope it is a great game with a deserved winner.

Brady is not the GOAT.

So long as the Pats aren't in the Super Bowl, I'm good. The only team I cared to support was the Eagles but they're out now.

There was an incorrect statement in that comment. Brady IS the GOAT...but Mahomes is not a rookie.

No. Brady is not the GOAT.
This is obviously a debatable topic.
My choice is Bart Starr. Five NFL championships, three before the Super Bowl era. Highest playoff winning percentage.
And my favorite: he called his own plays.

Mahomes is in his second season, he is not a rookie. He played in week 17 against the Broncos, in the 2017 season.
I do think that Brady is the GOAT.

Good point! Freakish!
I wouldn't take any eating or cooking advice from him.
I might take some quarterbacking advice from him, though.

I was a Packer fan in those days. Max McGee, Boyd Dowler, Paul Hornung, Carrol Dale, Bart Starr and so many more.

My favorite story was about the time Lombardi caught Hornung and McGee sneaking back in after a night of violating curfew, drinking and chasing skirts. They were climbing in the window.. Once they got into the barracks, Lombardi turned on on the lights and said "That's going to cost you each a $1,000. And the next time you find a woman worth that much, come and get me. I'm going with!"
