[W:549] Nfl 2018

We all appreciate, as a Cheatriots fan, you'd have no appreciation of the integrity of the game and playing all games to the best of the abilities of the players on the field. Chicago may have lost to the Eagles on Sunday, but they gained a lot in the eyes of people like me who appreciate that they went out and played their best because the game meant a lot to both the Vikings and the Eagles - that's a team with class!!

Lol you have written paragraphs defending Mike Tomlin, a man who once deliberately tripped a player during the game.

Class you say????

Be forewarned. I'm going to pat myself on the back here...lol

I said years ago Brown should be traded and Tomlin should be fired. Well the Steelers once again folded and lost to teams this years that they should have easily beat.(Raiders and Broncos).. Which cost them the playoffs.. That's my case again against Tomlin..This happens every year with him. Not missing the playoffs, but playing down to the other teams level. That's ALL on the coach.

Now for Brown. He's a selfish cancer in the clubhouse. He wasn't voted the Steelers MVP by his own teammates even though he had 15 TD catches. AND he wasn't voted to the NFL pro-bowl even though those 15 TD catches lead the league. I think that makes my case. In the past I've seen people say Brown was a good teammate.. Obviously that's not true. He's not liked by his own team, or the league.

I realize ANY sports team needs talent to win. The best coach in the world can't win without talent. But selfish players like Bell and Brown, IMO, cause more trouble than they are worth. Bell's gone. Brown? IDK, I'm reading where the Steelers will take a $21 mil cap hit if they trade him. That's a lot of money. But damn, the Steelers have a history of drafting good, if they can get a couple of good draft picks for him? I say take the cap hit..

Brown will also be 31 next season with arguably his best years behind him.

I would much rather overpay and sign Adam Humphries free agent wr for the bucs than trade for a brown

On that play, Tomlin admitted he made a mistake running down the sideline and getting in the way of the player. He immediately accepted his fine and apologized to his team and the league. That's entirely different from the Cheatriots who, in all cases when caught, plead innocence, cry to the public for sympathy, and even remain adamant they did nothing wrong when the evidence is stacked up against them and they've been proven cheaters. They even go to court and lose, dragging the situation on forever, rather than accept their punishment admirably.

This, however has nothing to do with Bucky's claim that a team is stupid for not playing to win against a team that is trying to win to get into the playoffs. I'm guessing that even you wouldn't condone such a dishonest way to approach the game.

After a heartbreaking loss for the Bears now the team loses Vic Fangio as he becomes Denver's new HC. What a crappy week this has been...

If the Steelers were playing a meaningless game against the Browns where winning would lead them to play against the Patriots in the playoffs and losing would lead them to play the Browns, you would bet Mike Tomlin would start Mason Rudolph.

What the Bears did was dumb.

Nah, throwing games is something the Cheatriots would do, but the Bears have more class. Anyway the way I see it the Bears screwed up by being conservative in the first half, and their idiotic kicker sucks- thats why they lost. Nick Foles had lousy stats against them- the only reason why they scored that first touchdown was because of penalties and the Bears had ten men on the field.

Why did you cut Robbie Gould again? LOL!

As bad as the Bears ST was, the Seahawks take the cake. They sign some fat 40-year old kicker who gets injured due to poor conditioning. They have no kicker the rest of the game and the punter drop kicks an onside kick...

.
Please dont remind me. I was in shock when they cut him too. Gould was a badass, and the Bears have been looking for a kicker ever since. :doh

While i agree this has been a down year for Tom he was still the league mvp last season and had one his best years. Of course age is a factor but I think we have to wait till next season before we can start saying he’s in decline.

A better receiving core, a healthy tight end (Gronk) and maybe he will have a great your next year too. And who knows, he and his Patriots still have a chance to win the Super Bowl this year, and if that happens his entire season will be a great success yet again.

After a heartbreaking loss for the Bears now the team loses Vic Fangio as he becomes Denver's new HC. What a crappy week this has been...

Next year, our Bears play 6 teams still going in the playoffs. Playing at Denver won’t be easy either, especially with Fangio as their HC. Bears have the NFC East, AFC West, along with the Rams and Saints. Division rivals will surely mark their games with the Bears.

Gawd no. Wentz is the #1 QB and rightfully so. And things were not PB & J before they became PB & J. Foles struggled last year when he first relieved Wentz -- he got progressively better for a few reasons. One, Pederson honed the offence to compliment his abilities and style. Plays were thrown out and others added in. Second, once Foles started feeling comfortable in the custom "Foles Offensive System," he confidence grew exponentially. Foles most likely would work best in a WC Offence style. So he has to find the right coach/fit.

I heard a Caron Wentz Zealot say he would trade Foles next year even if Foles leads the Eagles to a 2nd consesecutive Super Bowl. Maybe they should trade Wentz?

The San Diego Chargers chose youth over experience when they gave up on Drew Brees over Philip Rivers. Guess what? Drew Brees is a SB winning HOF QB. Rivers does not have that status.

The Patriots chose Brady over Jimmy G and Jimmy G has done nothing to indicate the Patriots made a mistake.

Foles IMO is the better option long-term. He reminds be of Brady. Leadership matters.

Well, Carson Wentz clearly is the future of the Eagles (26) and Foles is only going to be valuable for the next season because of Free agency (if I understood correctly) and I think the Eagles would be better off with a good running back high in the draft rather than keeping Foles as a backup and not getting a good running back or having to pay a lot of money to get one.

So if the option is one good relieve QB or a top RB, then I think the team is in a higher need of a great RB rather than keeping Foles for a huge amount of money on their roster.

What a problem to have, eh? Two potential elite QBs on your team. Having said that, I say keep Wentz. Even if Foles pulls a rabbit out of his ass and magically helps the Eagles win another SB. My only concern with Wentz is that he seems injury-prone.

As for Jimmy G, give the poor guy a chance. He was doing well early on until he got hurt.

I agree, keep Wentz, trade Foles for a decent draft pick and/or a good running back and then trade that draft pick to pick up Le'veon Bell which would solve the need to really lean totally on the QB.

A few points:

The expectation is that Foles, thanks in part to his altered deal, will be a free agent. Here is why: The Eagles have a $20-million option for 2019, which they would only pick up if he's the starter (and Wentz should make a full recovery, so Foles won't start).

Foles can buy back the option by paying $2 million. The team can also franchise him, theoretically. So almost certainly, he's free.

Nick Foles expected to be a free agent after the season - NFL.com

1. The only way the Eagles can keep Foles is if Wentz is not on the roster. They can't actually trade him unless they franchise tag him. I believe the best course of action is pick up Foles' option for $20 million and trade Wentz. The Eagles can get a lot for Wentz. I am thinking the Jaguars would trade Jalen Ramsey and their first round pick, which is in the top ten.

I would guess, just looking at the NFL landscape, the Broncos, Dolphins, Giants, would give up their 2019, 2020, and 2021 first round pick.

So you might argue you are slightly worse off at the QB but you gain a lot of assets to build the rest of your team.

2. Le'veon Bell will likely be a free agent and sign with any team he wants. I would guess the Colts, Jets, Bucs, Raiders, and Eagles will be interested in his services.

Jets to hire Adam Gase.

Even though Mike McCarthy just about begged for the Jets job...

Interesting.... Also interesting to see if McCarthy even gets a job now. Almost all of the HC vacancies are filled, and McCarthy was sitting around waiting on the Jets? Then they go with Gase?

I believe he had said the Jets job was the only one that interested him, and otherwise he would be happy to sit out a year.

What the Bears did was dumb.

I absolutely, 100%, guarantee that if the Steelers were playing the Browns in the last game of the season and a Browns loss knocked them out of the playoffs, regardless of which team that would mean the Steelers played in the playoffs, the Steelers would do their very best to knock the Browns out of the playoffs. They'd do it because that's the honorable thing to do, but just as importantly it would knock a divisional rival out of the playoffs, just as the Bears did to the Vikings.

You probably don't understand that because a) cheating or manipulating the outcome of games seems like second nature to you and the Cheatriots and b) the crap division the Cheatriots play in makes a similar scenario virtually a fantasy not a reality.

On the last weekend, the Browns did their best to knock the Ravens out of the playoffs and the Bengals did their best to do the same to the Steelers - neither of those teams had anything to play for but they are honorable franchises who play in a very competitive division and that's the way we roll.

What's important now for the Bears is that they get a good defensive coordinator. Fangio was a genius, and they need someone close to his calibre.
