It is a month out till the regular season begins in early March.

Lots of preseason action though throughout February. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/12/06/full-list-2018-mls-preseason-matches

There is a new team in Los Angeles playing in a brand new stadium adjacent to USC which puts it in the heart of the city instead of down in Carson where the Galaxy plays. LA F.C. will redefine the sport in the league's second biggest media market.

Seattle Sounders and Toronto F.C. are still the teams to beat, IMO. However, parity is strong in MLS so anyone might breakthrough.

Should be an interesting year.

I tried to add a poll but didn't make the 5 minute window. Here are my picks for contenders in each conference for the Supporters' Shield and chances to make a playoff run and win MLS Cup 2018. They are separated by conference and in no particular order except I put Seattle and Toronto on top (see the first post).

Western

Seattle Sounders
Sporting Kansas City
Houston Dynamo
Portland Timbers
L.A. Galaxy (yeah, this is far fetched but they might be surprising)
L.A. F.C. (this is just for fun, but wouldn't be awesome if an expansion team won it all?)

Eastern

Toronto F.C.
New York F.C.
Atlanta F.C.
Orlando City
Chicago Fire
Philadelphia Union (this is here just because it would be cool to see the Union join the Eagles as champions)

Take a look at that preseason schedule. All of LAFC's preseason games are behind closed doors (no fans, just the teams). This seems to be backwards as hell. If I owned a brand new sports team, the last thing I would want to do is hide it from public view.

Maybe LAFC coach Bob Bradley is worried about a New England Patriot's style Spygate.

Have a hard time watching MLS after watching EPL. It's like watching High schoolers, the talent level is so much lower

It's probably better because they don't just have 6 teams with all the money buying up players, and they actually have a playoff system.

There really is nothing “major league” about Major League Soccer. If you don’t have the best talent in the world, it’s not major league. It would be like the CFL calling themselves Major League Football.

One week away. Coach Bradley of LAFC says that his team looks good. How can anyone know unless they open up their preseason friendlies to the public?

3 teams are doing spring training here in PHX, haven't been able to go see any matches....we are trying to get a team, we have a great ownership group and a USL team, but who knows...

Dieder Drogba is reason enough to watch Phoenix Rising.

Maybe Phoenix will rise to MLS.

They built a 7000 seat stadium in about 4 weeks last year. They have the land and the money to privately build a 27000 seat stadium, with a dome of some sorts. I need to get to a match, they are nearby where I ride my bike.

Are there not two NY teams?

Technically, yes. New York FC ground is in New York City and New York Red Bulls play across the Hudson River in New Jersey.

There are also two Los Angeles teams - L.A. FC ground is just south of downtown Los Angeles and Los Angeles Galaxy plays in Carson (maybe 10 miles south of downtown L.A.)

Thought so but did not see Red Bull on the list heh.

Red Bulls might surprise us. I didn't list them as contenders, but who knows what will happen. This isn't EPL where only 4 teams can win (unless you are Leicester City!).
