The Cleveland Browns

I almost punted my flatscreen last draft. Packers are up, T.J. Watt is there ripe for the taking...and TT trades down. I do have to be fair, those rookie rbs, Jones and Williams...he might be on to something there.

They need do need D. Terrible defensive team this year.

That's the thing, if you look at the last...oh...4 drafts, the packers pick defensive players high in all of em. Just a bunch of bums. 2 years ago top 2 picks were Randall and Rollins. Last year Kenny Clark. This year first pick Kevin King, then Montravious Adams in the third, Vince Beigel in the 4th. It's not for lack of trying, but he's not hitting on ANY of his high defensive picks. I can, off the top of my head, think of 3 players he drafted on D in the first 5 rounds that really panned out. Clay Matthews (at least for a stretch), Clinton-Dix and Mike Daniels. Other than that it's been crap, schmag and garbage with a side of "whaddyamean Datone Jones isn't even in the league anymore he was a first round pick!" sauce.

Edit - Raji was good, he just decided he didn't wanna do football anymore

This CTE thingie combined with low attendance has to be hurting the NFL right now.

From what I've seen in the media they are downplaying it, but you can only do this so much

Get rid of helmets and most of the pads, and serious injuries will be reduced dramatically. I remember Joe Paterno called for that exact thing about 10 years ago and people laughed at him, but it’s true.

Rugby players dont play with helmets, maybe its time NFL adopt the same type of tackling system so that players dont get head injuries????

I dont know, I mostly talking out of my ear and Ive been drinking a lot tonight.

Cheers!!!

It’s not true. Head injuries will go down but serious injuries will go up. Just look a rugby for the proof on that.

I don’t think serious injuries, even non-head related, are as frequent in rugby, are they?

They are more frequent. Rugby is a pretty dangerous game. I played football through high school and rugby in college and men’s leagues.

Ok, so then just get rid of the helmets.

Report on Twitter say Josh Rosen said he'd rather stay in college than play for Cleveland. I think I would too.

Lets just all be honest here. Him staying in college another year in no way prevents him from being taken number one by Cleveland in 2019. Who else would even challenge Cleveland for that spot next season? The Giants? Odell will be back, they should be better. Chicago? Not if Trubiskys year 2 looks like Goff or Wentz. Houston? They'll get Watson back and be fine. Cincinnati maybe, that team is hot garbage, even though they kept the Lions out of the playoffs today.

Yep, I thought the same thing. He may as well enter the draft, and if Cleveland picks him refuse to play in the NFL. Pull a Manning/Elway.

Denver maybe

Sounds like a draft thread in the making from The Man. I think CLE should look at Wyoming, as PHL looked at NDSU. Allen would be happy to be a #1, as with a still-learning Trubisky. He's a cold-weather guy, and big, the new prototype as I see it.

Trade down, maybe with #2 NY, and make two great picks, since they also have the #5. New management can't hurt. Stack draft picks and get to work. The NFL needs a few wins here next year ...

NFL should maybe adopt the rugby style tackling where only below the waist is allowed.
That should drastically cut down on CTE's.

By the way, the XFL might make a rebirth and could threaten the NFL since they are hurting right now
