Problem with NFL

As I mentioned in the NFL thread. Look at the so called TD 'catch' in the Packer/Panther game. The Refs on the field, the guys in the booth, the 'guest' Ref in the booth, even a Panther player thought it wasn't a catch.. It was rule d NO CATCH on the field. But after the replay it was ruled a catch. And a TD.

No one knows WTF is a catch or isn't anymore. It's a mess.

Yeah that was the other one. My dad is a huge Green Bay fan and was angry... what bad officiating.

Yeah, it's crazy/ Looking at the 'catch' in the Panther game, which was ruled a NO CATCH on the field, then reversed. Then seeing the catch in the Steelers game, which was ruled a catch, but then reversed.

The NFL is going to take some serious heat this week.

This is more than a win/loss problem. It is people's jobs being affected ftom the parking lot guy to the hot dog vendor...

Hey I respect the game and want to see it called correctly. I respect the Steelers too, but that’s beside the point. Horrible calls like in that game only cheapen its legitimacy.

And the major problem is hey take five minutes reviewing it and STILL make the bad call.

Yeah, andI mentioned a couple times here. The NFL NEEDS to make up it's mind on what's a catch, and what isn't.

The 2 calls today(Panther game and Steelers game) can NOT be 1 was a catch, and 1 wasn't. Both were reviewed in NYC by the same Refs. Either they both were a catch, or neither was a catch.

It's a mess.

#81 on the Steelers caught the ball. Total control THEN reached out for the goal line. AFTER crossing the plane he hit the ground (which can't cause a fumble) and it bobbled but he then also retained possession of it. Just ****ing horrible officiating. Literally ruins the entire game.

You are butt hurt, and this is why you are acting this way. It's understandable.

You are blind to the ball slipping in the hands of the receiver.

Wrong. See above post.

The Seahawks lost 42-7. The refs have very little to do with the game. It was more about the Seahawks players quitting.

Reading is fundamental. Obviously impossible for some.

I believe this statement has merit.

Steelers fans cannot accept that the Steelers got outplayed, outclassed, and outcoached by a better team so they obviously start blaming the referees to somehow explain their team's inability to execute down the stretch.

It is quite simple: Brady to Gronkowski. The Steelers with their weak zone defense, continually give up large passing plays.

The Patriots do not receive any special treatment. They are just the better team, period.

Yes, just as I would expect then to do, because there is something deeply wrong with this teem.

My wife calls it "Lionitis" after all those Detroit teams that could not be bothered to put in an effort.

They play a brand of football I don't care for.

The Patriots are like a brotherhood. Those players would die for their teammates.

The Seahawks have no leadership and players that purposely try to injure their opponent and even fans.

Patriots have been winning super bowls since 911. Coincidence? Not.

The refs really arent more or less of a problem than they have ever been throughout the games history. The problem is the rules. The no catch ruling in the Steelers/Pats game is a perfect example. It was 100% the correct call...by the rules. The rules have changed. By the old rules it would have been a catch.

You are complaining about the wrong thing.

Another alternate reality brought to you from Fantasyville in BuckyLand.

Stats from the game:

Total yards - Steelers 413 Cheatriots 360

Rushing yards - Steelers 143 Cheatriots 77

Passing yards - Steelers 270 Cheatriots 283

Pass attempts/completions - Roethlisberger 22 of 30 Brady 22 of 35

Time of possession - Steelers 35:07 Cheatriots 24:53

Cheatriots only came out on top where the officials had the ability to influence the game:

Cheatriots came out on top in penalties - they got flagged twice for a grand total of 4 yards while the Steelers got flagged six times for 63 yards

Cheatriots got a touchdown overturned to their benefit, again, by the league replay officials.

Result - NFL/Cheatriots 27 Steelers 24 - in no way did the Steelers get outplayed, outclassed or outcoached by a better team. On this given Sunday, the better team had the game stolen from them.

The Patriots won within the rules of the game. I admit, in the spirit of the game, that should have been ruled a TD, but by the letter of the NFL rules, that isn't a TD, I saw the ball move.

The reason why the Patriots win: Basic execution. They don't beat themselves. I do not know why teams like the Seahawks, Falcons, and now Steelers try to beat the Patriots with these miracle "hero" style plays.

The correct play was a fade route to Bryant..... throwing in the middle of the field is as silly as a Russell Wilson throwing an int on a rub route.

I'll excuse your behavior since the emotions are raw but you should keep your head upright. There is no shame being the second best team in the AFC, especially when you are looking up to a football god in Tom Brady.

I've been listening to some sports talk radio this morning, and an interesting observation came up.

On a Sunday when there was a BUNCH of really, really good games, the talk today is:

Raider game and an index card.

Panther game and if a receivers butt cheek was in-bounds on a TD catch or out of bounds.

Steeler game where by the letter of the law it might NOT have been a catch, but everyone and the mother pretty much agrees that the 'law' sucks and needs to be changed.

So instead of talking about football. The talk is about idiotic rules, index cards and butt cheeks.

Oh well.

That and their complete lack of an offensive line. I never understood what Carroll was thinking when he traded what may have been the best center in the NFL for Graham and a lousy 4th round pick. That trade was the end of the era for Seattle.

Carrol sucks and is a scumbag. He ruined USC and inherited an unbelievable Seattle team that he rode like Seifert did with the 49ers and then let crumble.

He had clear control of the ball. That was a catch by old and new rules... but yes. The rules on a catch are also confusing. Dez Bryant til now.

You are wrong. The rules are clear. Why that is so hard for so many to understand...I dont get. It was not a catch in accordance with the rules. If you dont like the rules...change the rules.

Instead, people are guided by their

Both posts need to be repeated.

They are that good.

They are going through an evolution like the Patriots and Steelers. Those two teams were carried by a dominant defense and eventually became defensive-centric to offensive-centric.

I would guess Pete Caroll will leave and the Seahawks need to bring in a bright/young offensive mind (perhaps Josh McDaniel) to cultivate the offense.

My suggestion:

Trade Richard Sherman. He will be 30-years old next year and you either have to overpay him, trade him, or lose him for nothing.

Trade Earl Thomas. He will be 29-years old next year and you either have to overpay him, trade him, or lose him for nothing.

Priority should be o-line, RB's, and TE. They should probably draft spend at least 6 draft choices on those 3 positions.

The REFS!!

For ****s sake Pittsburgh just got ass raped on a last second catch call and I don't even like the Steelers... The refs micro-manage these replays and then **** up the game. They spent about five minutes reviewing the play !!! Disgusting. There was another earlier but I can't remember which.

I only saw the end of the game, but they called that one according to the way the rule is worded. I don't agree with the rule, but that was a correct call.

The other really stupid thing that came up yesterday was chains being used to decide first downs. Medieval technology, that.

He had clear control of the ball. That was a catch by old and new rules... but yes. The rules on a catch are also confusing. Dez Bryant til now.

The ball clearly moved when he went down. That is clear to anyone with normal vision or isn't a Steelers fan.

On reflection the call... if it had been initially done... would have neen according to the stupid rule. I now argue that the call on the field was complete pass. The video was not conclusive evidence that he did not have control. Not enough to overturn the call on the field anyway.

Yeah... chains? I cringe when I see the ref arbitrarily put the ball down in some spot near the pile and the team wins spot or loses it by inches.

Moving is not the issue. Control is. But you are slightly biased so whatever...
