The 2018 Major Leage Baseball Thread

Dad grew up with the Boston Braves in Maine. Then on to Milwaukee and now Atlanta. I’m sure you remember the Braves in the ‘western’ division with the Reds. Milwaukee is an NL city. Houston is built like an NL team.

I don’t expect the A’s to be allowed to win. I still prefer splitting teams in the same division for the LDS. If NYY can beat HOU, they deserve a shot at BOS or CLE in the LCS. Either way tonight, it’s still HOU v. CLE.

Signups have started here for pre-HS wrestling. This is week 7 for our football. We’ve had great fall weather.

A's are +160. I don't bet. But, damn. That is a good bet.

Foltynewicz is +160 against LAD, as Kershaw was pushed back for Ryu. The early start time in LA is bad for batters, as we see the o/u in 5 innings of 3.5 o-15.

New york is the most prolific hr hitting team in the history of baseball. I expect them to score a lot of of runs tonight.

If the a's win tonight it wont be because of their pitching.

Things look good so far. I won't be comfortable until the Yankees have a +4 run lead.

Gary Sanchez provides no assurance as a catcher. I really doubt he knows how to communicate well with the pitchers. He's definitely no Girardi or Posada behind the plate.

Ugliest 4 IP no-hitter I have seen in a while.

I am not sure what Sevy is thinking. After the 1 inning, all he is throwing is sliders? WTF? This guy can throw 98 mph.

**** the Yankees.

That is all.

Lol..

And we're in the 13th. Unfortunate to see the Rockies in this wild card game. If my Giants could have managed to NOT get swept by LA...at home...in the season ending series, we'd be looking at the Dodgers in this game. My apologies to the baseball gods for the G-men's atrocious late season swoon.

BALL GAME!!!

I am not sure what the A's were thinking putting Fernando Rodney in the game. He's like 41-years old?

LOL! The A's had a lot more bullets they could have used.

Thanks, Bob Melvin. Now they have to put in their best pitcher in the 6th inning....

The most historic hr hitting offense in MLB history just tore apart one of the best bullpens in baseball.

Luke Voit is a beast!!!

Prediction time:

Yankees vs Red Sox:

Yankees in 6: Aaron Judge is back and the Yankees offense is at an entirely different level.

Indians vs Astros:

Astros in 5: Hard to pick Cleveland when they have been on cruise control since July.

Yankees vs. Houston

Yankees in 7: This could be epic.

Braves vs Dodgers

Dodgers in 5: This Braves team is too young and will be exposed

Brewers vs Rockies

I do not know much about either team however I'd give a slight advantage to the Rockies.

Rockies vs. Dodgers:

Dodgers in 6.

Yankees vs Dodgers in the World Series.

Though you're correct than the ML HR was set by the Yanks the year, by no means were they the most historic!
I wouldn't go overboard with the most prolific hr hitting offense in MLB history, the team they played tonight hit more
homers away from home than the Yanks did this very year. Playing in Yankee Stadium the way it's configured nowadays
has a lot to do with a new record being set. Eleven teams hit over 200 HR's this year that's more over 200 than during the
video game steroids era. Every team this year hit over 100 HR's with 128 HR's being the lowest mark

The most prolific HR hitting team was the 1947 Giants led by Big John Mize, Walker Cooper, Willard Marshall & Bobby Thomson.
The Giants that year broke the 36 Yankees record of 186 by hitting 221 HR's. Most teams had less than 100 Hr's and in the AL
that year the Yankees lead the leauge with 115 HR's, over 100 less than the Giants.

Remember Aaron Judge missed an entire month with a broken wrist.

When Judge is healthy, he is a better hitter than JD Martinez and Mookie Betts. He is the most prolific home run hitter in the game.

His leadership as well is evident. He comes across a mix of David Ortiz and Derek Jeter. Very classy yet lovable player.

So, how will Division winners do that were Not pressed, versus 3 of 4 teams today?

If I were the Red Sox, I’d be glad not facing Kluber and Carrasco in a 5-game series. Astros have 3 great starters though, much more of an NL-type series.

76 games within a division against 4 teams is too many. Even with that, the pathetic ALC finished 104 games under 0.500. Even just 68 (17 each) would keep the tie-breaker if they ever go there. 8 extra games would go to the other ten, giving 74/10, versus 66/10 now.

20 IL with 6 teams looks locked in, though Mon/Thurs byes wrapped around Tuesday night then Wednesday afternoon was terrible. Weather wasn’t kind to the Eastern divisions either.

Miller Park is a great venue, even with that day sun, especially the 3rd base line starting 1:00 PM. When the Cubs are there, locals scalp their tickets for big bucks.

The bad vision in LA with their early starts for Easterners is always a problem. Good to see new teams, though I still ‘like’ the Cubs. It’s the 3 B’s for us now.

Judge is the top slugger in the game, agreed & very likeable. My pick for #2 most important Yankee is Didi, 2nd most HR on the team
and a super defensive SS that they needed for a long time!

No objection from this Dodger fan, but I would prefer the Red Sox in the WS. It would be cool. Lived through the LA vs NY rivalry the last go 'round and am bored with it. Would luv to see the Dodgers play in Fenway. Epic.

Brewers! Cinderella has arrived at the ball.

I cant see the Yankees beating BoSox. Sox in 5

Yankees just ko'd either the #1 or runner up at cy young. They took care of Kluber twice last year.

I see Sale and Price in trouble.

Those two have tons of experience though, which the Yankee starters dont have.

Sox in 5

3-0 early. Get the brooms. Yanks will be lucky to win a game.
