Cubs (4-6 over the last ten games with three straight losses) found the wrong time to go cold, while the Brewers (8-2; W4) found the exact right to time to get hot. I counted these guys out in mid August, but it looks like they are in the race after all.
Out West, it's Colorado! Rockies are still not the favorite to win the division (56%), but they are a solid game and a half up over the Dodgers (73%). AZ is falling off the radar: 3.5 back, with a 2-8 over the last ten and a 3-game losing streak.
The East is all Braves at this point. 5 games up on the Phillies who really never stood much of a chance but probably gave the fans in Philly some fun during the summer as they eagerly awaited the football to kick back in again.
The American league races give us a good sampling of why no one really cares about baseball. Bosox are so far up on the Yanks that there is no East coast race to follow. Cleveland has buried the Twins by almost 16 games and Houston has had a comfortable lead on the A's all season. No drama.
This is the first time all year I’ve been concerned about the Cubs.
Schwarber’s back is hurting, CJ Edwards is clearly hurt somehow, Bryant is not 100%, Almora is a basket case at the plate, Morrow’s not coming back, and Contreras and Russell forgot how to hit since June.
