Ted Williams vs. Bob Feller in 1946. This is the game where Lou Boudreau came up with ‘The Shift’ to shut down Williams. Note the defensive alignment!

I didn’t realize this was that old of a strategy.

Many Trump supporters have lots of problems, and those deplorables are bringing those problems to us. They’re racists. They’re misogynists. They’re islamophobic. They're xenophobes and homophobes. And some, I assume, are good people.

It was, but it was never utilized as much as it is today.

I'm not sure when everyone started using the shift, but I think it was less then 10 years ago

Against certain Leftie batters it's been going on for longer than 10 years.

But yeah nowadays they even put a shift on against some righties, which was unheard of 10 years ago.

Not much has changed for the Nationals: New boss, same goal
As the team readies for spring training, the roster looks familiar for the time being, making Manager Dave Martinez the team’s biggest offseason addition.

    More offseason baseball reading.

Jackie Robinson was not the first black player in the Major leagues.

Kris Bryant has been a horrible clutch hitter.

I knew Bryant was bad with RISP, but didn’t realize just how bad. For two years straight.

    Wow.

Since clutch hitting is a fake thing, let’s hope he regresses to the mean and has a couple years of incredible make up seasons.

The Nationals have sky-high hopes for their No. 1 prospect, who could diminish the string should Bryce Harper depart. The fast-rising Dominican star, though, is staying true to his roots.
