    What??!

Last I heard CanadaJohn was assuring me he would be hitting .400 in the AL.
Many Trump supporters have lots of problems, and those deplorables are bringing those problems to us. They’re racists. They’re misogynists. They’re islamophobic. They're xenophobes and homophobes. And some, I assume, are good people.

Actually, I heard after I posted that they asked him about a position switch and he declined, so that's when they let him go.

I always liked Roark, but it looks like the Nats are repurposing their money.

In a swap of right-handed pitchers, the Nationals have sent Tanner Roark to the Reds in return for Tanner Rainey.

There have only been five major leaguers with the first name of Tanner, and two of them just got traded for each other.

On a related note, the Nationals might rename themselves ‘The Tankers’.

Nats are now rated favorites to win the NL East.

Re: The 2018 Major Leage Baseball Thread

This is great news for Cuban players as well as for MLB: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46626521

Cuban baseball players allowed in MLB without defecting

Eligible Cuban players can now join MLB teams without defecting from the communist-run nation, in a deal similar to those with Asian leagues.

The MLB has also agreed to pay Cuba's Federation a percentage of signing bonuses that Cuban players receive.

Officials say they hope the deal will end player trafficking from Cuba.

Under the new agreement, Cuban baseball players over age 25, who have played in Cuban leagues for six years, are free to leave and sign with MLB teams, according to US media.

If a player defects from Cuba, which traditionally produces some of the best players in the world, they will have to wait one to two years before playing for a US team.

The Washington Post reported that the deal required "extensive" discussions between MLB and the Trump administration, given the US embargo against Cuba and the president's more recent rollback of Obama-era deals.

Cuban players will have to obtain work visas approved by the US Department of State.

The deal is in effect until 31 October, 2021. The International Chamber of Commerce will handle any disputes between the leagues
