There are 32 team in the National Football League which means there are at least 64 quarterbacks - and more as the season goes by to replace injuries.

So here is the simple question: based on ability, how many of those current 64 are better QB's that Colin Kaepernick?

Here are his stats

Colin Kaepernick Stats - ESPN

If if he is better than some current NFL QB's - where you would rank him?

Based on what I've seen of him ever since defenses got used to and learned how to defend the option, I think he's probably worse than all 32 starters, or at the very least has less potential than them. He might be better currently than Trubisky for instance, but Trubisky has a higher ceiling. I don't think he'd be in the top tier of backups either. I don't think I could say he's substantially worse than some of the backups in the league, but I can't say he's clearly better than any of them either.

Kaepernick’s stats in his latest season were better than some current NFL quarterbacks, but no current NFL quarterback has the baggage, drama and distraction that Kaepernick would bring. And let’s not forget that Kaepernick voluntarily opted out of his 49ers contract.

It’s a business decision. They weigh the risks to rewards. Someone like Tom Brady or Aaron Rogers could pull off the kneeling protest and pig socks stunt and still be employed as an NFL quarterback, because their reward outweighs their risk. Colin Kaepernick is a mediocre at best QB, so that doesn’t work for him.

I have no idea, but apparently the teams owners don't think he has enough talent to be worth the controversy he generates.

Last I heard he was ranked 35th out of all 90+ QB's in the league...

Who cares?

I can see some center or other lineman giving up on a play and letting a 250 lb. linebacker have a shot at him.

A passive rebuttal by the players for "Colon Pumperknickle"

The QB's better than him in my opinion:

Aaron Rodgers
Tom Brady
Drew Brees
Matt Stafford
Matt Ryan
Big Ben
Jared Goff
Russel Wilson
Carson Palmer
Sam Bradford
Terry Bridgewater
Marcus Mariota
Jay Cutler
Andrew Luck
Bresset
Tyrod Taylor
Brian Hoyer
CJ Beathard
Josh McCown
Trubisky
Cam Newton
Jaimis Winston
Derek Carr
Dax Prescott
Carson Wentz
Andy Dalton
Matt Cassel
Alex Smith
Trevor Siemian
Phillip Rivers
Kirk Cousins
Eli Manning

The point is, nobody wants the Colin Kaepernick side-show on their team, in exchange for his mediocre quarterback skills. That is a perfectly acceptable reason for Kaepernick not being able to find employment as an NFL QB.

Why didn’t Kaepernick do his stunts in 2012 and 2013 when he was at the top of his game, the next big thing?

So hes better than Tannehill and Flacco?

He very well could be better than Flacco, but who the hell isn’t? And I’m a Ravens fan. But, Flacco doesn’t bring the drama and BS that Kaepernick brings. If I were an NFL team owner, I would take Flacco over Kaepernick. Hell, I would take JaMarcus Russell over Kaepernick.

He was never very good. In his early days he had a very good 49'er team around him.

Because he had a very good team around him he had a couple good years.. Over the decades there's been a TON of QB's who were good for a 1/2 year(Griffin III comes to mind), or a year. or 2 years, then the defenses catch on and the flash in the pan QB comes crashing back to earth.

Kap is one of the flash in the pans that came crashing back down to earth.

Now the problem is he's nothing better than a 3rd sting QB. So is all the BS, media circus and nonsense worth a 3rd string QB? Probably not.

Oh...wait...I know the answer to that!

He hadnt met his new squeeze prior to that point. She is the SOLE reason Kaepernick suddenly found his black roots and pretended to give a **** about dead black people.

There is tangible evidence which is the better QB

I'd say the team Owners like full stadiums.

The question, really, is totally irrelevant. Colin Kaepernick is a marginal talent, at best, and his notoriety is far more damaging to a team's bottom line than any benefit he may provide to the team on the field.

I'll give you an analogy, in sports, that may equate to this. Jose Bautista is/was a star player with the Toronto Blue Jays who was a free agent last year before this season started. He was/is a controversial player to some, a villain to some, but a very talented player during his free agency. Some teams, particularly the Baltimore Orioles through their general manager who said their fan base would never accept signing Bautista, refused to sign him because of his reputation not because he couldn't fit their needs. A prime example was the Boston Red Sox who lost a star designated hitter to retirement and Bautista has/had a terrific record playing in Fenway Park. Many experts consider Boston's failure to be directly related to their failure to sign a big bat to replace Ortiz.

Teams that sign players against the direct opposition of their fan bases are not likely to have loyal fan bases for very long. No fan base in the NFL wants Kaepernick, period.

There will always be full stadiums, protests or not. It don't matter!

Full stadiums are a small fraction of what NFL owners are concerned about. Their main worry is to not lose TV viewers, the vast majority of their income.

The NFL is not losing TV viewers either

Lets look at those numbers at the end of a season, not 1/4 of the way through
