I am just curious if anyone has insight as to why UFC generally makes less money than boxing? Why do fighters like mayweather make so much compared to UFC fighters like McGregor? I am obviously a UFC fan. I enjoy the mix and the sport. Boxing gets boring to me. I still like it (was the first martial art I learned). But it isn't what it used to be to me. So it just leaves me wondering if anyone else has more knowledge? Does the global following and Olympic sport help?

I suspect it comes down to how widely they can market the advertising.
the advertisers have seen a value returned to dollars invested in Boxing promotions.

That's a good question so I have been doing some googling. Here's an interesting article. It doesn't explain the difference but really points out the difference:

I can see there being differences in drop offs, but when two fighters will make as much money as a whole UFC fight card, that's a bit weird.

Maybe structure makes a big difference, the boxers being more of free agents setting up their fights and the boxing commission just giving it a thumbs up?

That's essentially the whole of it. If you want a big MMA paper view fight you have to do it through the UFC period. If you set up a boxing match the boxers are free agents and can negotiate alot more. The only way you negotiate with the UFC is if you are a mega superstar like Rhonda or Mcgregor in their prime. It's the same reason that boxers can make alot more money off of advertising or by being sponsored by their own companies like Mayweather. UFC won't allow you to wear anything other than Reebok, because they sponsor the UFC and you aren't allowed to have your own company sponsor or set up an MMA fight like Boxing does.

Dana white that fat piece of money grubbing ****. Maybe he will die of a cocaine overdose or something and not cheat the fighters out of millions?

Ah, some of the things he's done has been good. I remember the MMA fights back in the day where the fighters had logos all over their asses and painted on their backs and it looked unprofessional. In reality all that Dana did was milk every dime he could out of it the same way the NFL or MBA does. With the exception that he doesn't have team owners to worry about. It's a blessing in that it that he has made it very mainstream and has created superstars and it's a curse.
