So, in the hierarchy of club trophies, are you saying that there are only two 'major' trophies? Domestic league title and the CL? Everything else is 'minor'?

Yes pretty much. They give the most money and prestige.

Lets put it this way... you have the choice.. winning the CL or the Cup (FA or Kings).. which will you take?

Watching El Clásico and Barca are being given a bit of a football lesson by Real. They can't get the ball, can't keep the ball and can't do anything with it when they do have it. On the other hand, Real look like they could score at any moment. How they are only one own goal ahead is baffling. Hang on... Cristiano nearly scored. Nope, still just 0-1.

Hmm guess we watched 2 different games. Real Madrid were good, but giving Barca a "football lesson" hardly. If Barca "cant get the ball", then how did they manage over 60% ball possession?

Pique had a very bad game.. he was at fault of all 3 Real goals doing school boy mistakes. Ever heard of closing down players Pique?

Madrid are several levels above Barca, their age is o-ver.

We shall see. I dont disagree that this year is going to be hard for Barca, but there is over 14 days of the transfer window left and anything can happen. Barca need a Xavi 2.0 in the midfield.

Cristiano is a God

With the amount of space he was given, then a monkey could have scored. Poor defending by Pique.

Asensio is something else and we'll enjoy that one for a long time.

Again.. with the amount of space he was given by Pique, then...

Worst ref ever.

yes very pro Real Madrid as always.. oh you are talking about the Ronaldo red? Well the idiot knows the punishment for taking off his shirt and he should not have tried to dive... his own bloody fault. If Pique had gotten the red, then I would have said the same for that idiotic handball at the start.

I don't know what's more fun for me Pete, seeing the actual game as a Real Madrid fan or reading your comments after it

The only reason we can't suspect the ref for being paid by Barca is cause he would have surely tried to hide it and be less biased for their side.
It's been a long time since I've seen such a one sided match decisions-wise.
Suárez should have gotten a direct red card simply for how bad his dive was, and Ronaldo didn't dive at all there was contact and it was outside the penalty box anyway.

It's a shame that Ronaldo is probably going to get an heavy punishment for his stupid (yet understandable) reaction and be out for at least 4 games.

So when Casemerio stayed on the pitch for hacking Messi down? Should have been red. Countless fouls by Real players were not given, where as you just had to touch a Real player and there was a foul. Sorry but the ref was clearly biased for Real.

LOL the goalkeeper took him out for **** sake.. and Umtiti barely touched him.. it was shoulder to shoulder and was a clear freaking dive.. a pathetic one at that.

Naw doubt that, the punishment will probably only be for the Super Cup only and wont be more than 2 games. The Spanish FA is so pro Madrid that it is pathetic.

It wasn't even a yellow.

The keeper barely touched him, it was an obvious dive and he made himself look like a fool.
Ronaldo on the other hand clearly fell because of the contact and not because he made himself fall.

Banned for five matches. You're going to take that back now I assume?

Exactly it was red.. tackle from behind with no intent to get the ball.

The keeper touched him and made the intent very clear.. that is enough. Ronaldo fell because he lost control of the ball and felt someone beside him.. a clear dive to gain a free kick and since it was the last defender, an attempt to get a player thrown off... ups you forgot that part eh?

Banned for five matches. You're going to take that back now I assume?

Real will appeal the yellow card, and hence the red, so dont count your chickens just yet.

Lets put it this way... you have the choice.. winning the CL or the Cup (FA or Kings).. which will you take?

No, putting it that way is stupid. No one is questioning that the CL is the pinnacle.

I'm very satisfied with my bet so far.

Rooney scores his 200th goal in the Prem with the club he scores his 1st!

Transfer window in UK done.. still 1 day for Spain, but should not be anything nuts with that.

My prediction.

Man City
Man U
Liverpool/Chealski/Tottenham (fighting it out for 3rd-5)
Everton
Arsenal.. might go much lower.

There is not much between the two Manchester clubs, and it will come down to injuries.

Liverpool has issues with Courtinho and that might impact the mood.
Chealski has issues with Conte which might impact the mood
Tottenham has not changed much but actually lost some key people. Add to that, a troublemaker they got from PSG.. and well.

Everton is a dark horse. If the manager can get them playing as a team instead of individuals then watch out.

Arsenal is doomed. Their top two stars want to leave and have under a year left on their contract. They have the usual injury problems and next to no new players of significance. The mood around the club is horrible.

To go down..

West Ham- West Brom - Stoke

I think Top 4 will be City, Liverpool, Chelsea and United, hopefully in that order. Arsenal will finish mid-table, out of Europe again. To go down I reckon will be Palace, Brighton and either Swansea or Bournemouth.

Sometimes football is strange..

France absolute trash Holland but can't beat Luxembourg.. oh and Denmark beat Poland 4-0... wtf?

Oh Boy! Sorry Serenity. Sorry Pete, but your boys just took one heck of a beating. I was not expecting that. I thought there would be goals aplenty, but I thought we'd concede at least one. What a result. What a performance!

Wait. Pete is a Liverpool supporter?

How could I have missed that. Granted, I don't always read all of the posts but I don't think I've ever seen Pete say anything nice about or show any support for any team in the EPL.

Now, is that all you have to say?

No, it's not. I forgot to say "shut up". :2razz:

Whilst the Red card obviously changed the game, we totally waved the white flag after it. Sad.

City looked terrible the last match against Bournemouth, the winning goal gave them the mental boost they needed though and they looked like a real monster against Liverpool.
Amazing how in the EPL we can have Liverpool beating Arsenal 4-0 and then getting trashed by City 0-5 the next round.

It will be between City and United this year, for certain.
Both teams have superb squads. Pep vs. Mourinho again for the title.

Thats what a sending off does. **** happens.

On the bright side, Messi hat trick and Los Blancos drawing :)

Well supporter is a bit much. Back when I was a kid, Liverpool was the dominant team in England and the world (als had Jan Molby as a player) and along with Juventus, it was the team they showed on TV. When I got older, it was Manchester United with my personal hero Schmeichel that were dominant so Manchester United became a favourite. Now days Tottenham has Eriksen, so Tottenham gets some extra viewing when possible. On the flip side, I tend to avoid Man U since it has the devil Mourinho as manager.. same when Van Gaal was there.. cant stand the two. Things change over time..

Same way I've been using to decide where my sympathy goes in the EPL.
I have no real favorite but do have sympathy for Man United cause they ruled the league in my youth (same goes for AC Milan in Italy).
When Benayoun used to play for Liverpool I was on their side, and nowadays my sympathy is with Brighton cause they have Beram Kayal and Tomer Hemed. (1 goal and 1 assist yesterday)

I did laugh at "supporter is a bit much"

Molby held the record for most penalties scored until Stevie G put that to rest although I'm sure you likely knew that already if you were a big fan of his.

Brilliant player, flawed human being and poor manager... but great tv commentator mostly.

We've had 2 players sent off already this season; still didn't collapse like a bad round of Jenga. Liverpool just fell apart and City were ruthless.
