Mayweather Needs McGregor Fight to Pay Taxes

Good point.
Since it is not a title fight, maybe nobody needs to sanction it at all.
If the fight was sanctioned, we all know the Nevada State Athletic Commission is an incorruptible bastion of integrity who would never be swayed by $$$$$.;)

All fights have to be sanctioned or you could lose your license. It is obvious it is simply to big of a payday to pass up which is why it was sanctioned.

Anyone know the hardest hitter mayweather has ever fought?

Either Diego Corrales or Marcos Maidana would be my guess. He fought Corrales for the super featherweight
130 lb. championship & Maidana later on for the welterwight title 147 lb.

Idk if I would agree mayweather is the greatest of all time lol. My understanding (from a perspective of martial arts and limited boxing knowledge passed on by an uncle who was a silver gloves fighter in the marines lol)...is that he is a defensive fighter. His list of skills isn't that long. Which is fine. Don't take that the wrong way. Just means he is doing in with a single minded and effective approach (that has kept him healthy).

As for volume. Yes. I agree. Volume is what is going to do it. But volume takes time. Especially for a counter fighter. And if he hits McGregor a few times...McGregor is going to tighten up his defense and get really conservative. And that is going to limit the number of shots. Mayweather? He isn't going to get impatient and let McGregor start to counter fight. And he isn't going to get in and let McGregor bang away. He isn't stupid. He IS going to load up on strikes.

I agree with you lol. Just maybe not on the round count?

He doesn't need to, Conner will not be able to defend against Mayweather and will be struck repeatedly. Conversely the odds of Conner even landing more than a few clean shots is pretty low.

I have a feeling it is going to be a boring failure. The crowd will boo Mayweather for running from McGregor but in the end Mayweather will be running to the bank.

If by some chance it turns into a slugfest it would be interesting.

Neither of those will happen, it will be a lopsided annihilation. If Mayweather runs it will forever tarnish his legacy having to resort to that against an amateur and he will not allow that. I would agree if this was someone like GGG but for someone making their Pro-Boxing debut, he would become a laughingstock.

I hope McGregor is going to floor Mayweather because I seriously dislike this guy, I may also have issues with McGregor but not as much as I really dislike Mayweather.

Time will tell.

No way would Mayweather after two year retirement want to step in the ring with GGG. The real fight coming up is Canelo-GGG on 9-16-2017. Now, that is going to be a war.

I can't wait for the Canelo-GGG fight. Honestly, I am more of an MMA fan but the big boxing matches do draw me in. There are very few boxers I follow (Canelo, GGG, and Cotto are some of my favorites).

No wonder the betters are saying McGregor will win even as the s0-called experts give him no chance. I was reading that if he does Vegas is going to take it in the shorts.

It is mostly due to the way Mayweather has marketed himself. He is incredibly polarizing, the majority of bets on Conner are basically prayers and small bets. The big time gamblers have money on Mayweather, someone recently bet 1.2million when the odds dropped to 3-1. If I had that type of cash I would be doing the same right now.

EDIT: 76% of the money is on Mayweather.

Or maybe it's because the money is already decided no matter who wins so why should Mayweather give a damn...

I am now officially interested.

Because his legacy is on the line with this matchup. If he loses or really if he even struggles against Conner it is a major scar on his legacy. Also, a win against Conner would give him 50-0 equaling Rocky Marciano's record, even though this shouldn't count imo since it is nothing more than a glorified exhibition. Even though Buster Douglas was a major underdog at least he was actually a boxer, if Conner is somehow able to hit him with a lucky punch and KO him, we are talking about the most historic upset in boxing history, like if Apollo lost to Rocky in the first movie only more incredible.

My bad Rocky was 49-0, so Mayweather win gives him the record.

This matchup reminds me of Rocky Balboa vs. Hot Lips Hulk Hogan in Rocky III. A joke fight.

A lot of jokes can be had for 200m/100m. I would prefer to see winner take all.

Wow. Can't believe it went 10 rounds. McGregor showed way more skill than expected. I honestly believe he lost because of not knowing the rules and the intricacies of the sport. He ended up too tired. It was so close right till the stoppage.

What do y'all think?

The crowd is not the sum of its parts.

I am a republican who did not vote for Trump (Or Hillary).
