The top five fan bases (team brands if you prefer) are the Cowboys, Patriots, Eagles, Giants and Steelers.

At the other extreme we have the Bengals, Jaguars, Titans, Rams and Chiefs. Some of these are no surprises. At the top of the list we have the NFL’s royalty. No one has ever placed the Bengals, Jaguars or titans in that category.

This study confirms a few things:

  • *Fans generally on the east coast are better than fans on the west coast. The only west coast team to make the 10 ten are the 49'ers.

*Saints, Bears, 49'ers fans are passionate about their teams despite them producing medicore results.

*Chiefs, Falcons, Seahawks fans are mainly fairweather depiste producing a good product on the field.

*I give props to the Browns fans. They should be last on the list yet people still show up despite them being one of the worst franchises in all of sports.

I remember going to the old Schaefer Stadium when the Pats were going 1-15. The New England Fans would cheer Bradshaw louder than Grogan.

If the NFL wants viewership, they air a Steelers game. That's why the Steelers played on Christmas last year, and will this year. Of course, the prospects of the team dictate this from year to year, but perennially the Steelers draw a large audience nationally. OTOH, I watched the Steelers as a kid with Bobby Lane playing half drunk at the old Pitt Stadium. The only thing they drew coverage-wise was flies, for the most part.

I'm suprised though about the Packers. Apparently their fans don't travel well. That's shocking. If I were a Packers fan I would leave Green Bay as much as I could.

Just a shame about Gillette stadium. So poorly designed, open ends lose all the atmosphere.

Bucky only became a fan when the Pats started winning superbowls.

Incorrect.

The Patriots are America's team. They helped a nation heal during 9/11 and represent the story of America.

The Cowboys represent America's greed, while the Patriots represent the American Dream.

I thinks it's awesome. The pedestrian bridges, clean bathrooms, great food, great souvenir shop, and not a bad seat in the house.

Calling the Bears "mediocre" is awful generous. Take away their measly two super bowl appearances in the past 30 years, and the Bears are the Lions and Browns.

Its a nice experience I will give you that especially with patriots place etc but its just a shame the atmosphere isn't as intense as other stadiums I've been to.

Oh do share. How exactly did a football team help the nation?

Your bull**** is getting thicker by the minute.

Dude, stop being so delusional.

Jets & Miami games used to get pretty raucous. Ever since BB & TB have been stomping them into little greasy spots for the past 16 years, it's quieted down.

Eagles at #3??? Where the F did they get this list? The Eagles have the biggest bunch of douchebag fans in any sport/league in the world, not just NFL.

This is absolutely true.

I'm totally getting a bad rap for a nothing burger. Calamity is from Ohio and roots for the Steelers. TopCat only became a Seahawks fan after they beat the Broncos in the Super Bowl. POS and Kobe continually bash their own team, making you wonder if they are actually fans.

I had season tickets to the Hawks their very first season. I am a 3rd generation Seattlite. Born and bred.

I am also a Mariners fan. A Sonics fan. And a WA Husky fan. See a pattern yet?

Epic Fail for the front-runner.

Dude, stop being so delusional.

Delusional was you thinking the Falcons were a better team than the Pat's during all the pre Super Bowl hype.

It must have really sucked to seeing that 28 point lead being dissected by the best modern QB and coach of all time. How in the freaking world does a team supposedly as good as the Falcon's blow a 28 point lead to a system QB and a a "mini me" named Edelman?

Players often take pay cuts to play for Kraft and BB.

The Cowboys hinge their hopes every year on paying a few exceptional players thinking they will be in place for a run. The Pat's take average to good players and have used to them to go to 7 Super Bowls. The Pat's are 4-0 against Dallas in the past 16 years.

If anything...........Pittsburgh is the national team. SIX time champion!

And before that the Cowboys were 7-0 against the Patriots spanning 28 years....
