Nhl 2017-2018

I’m really loving the Preds this year.

This is an upcoming team. They took the league by suprise last year and they did it without key players due to injuries.

If the team stays healthy they even look much more deadly this year.

ToP 7 Best:

1. Kucherov - 94 P
2. MacKinnon - 91 P
3. McDavid - 90 P
4. Malkin - 89 P
5. Giroux - 87 P
6. Stamkos - 85 P
7. Kopitar - 82 P

So it turns out it is possible that Philly and Florida could end up tied in every category the NHL uses for tiebreakers. Not likely, but possible, and would result in the need for a tiebreaking game. Here is the scenario from the league:

Therefore, the teams would play a tiebreaking game if Philadelphia loses its final game of the season by two goals exactly (Saturday vs. NYR) and Florida wins its final two contests, both in shootouts (Saturday vs. BUF, Sunday at BOS).

I find that amusing for some reason.

When you look at where the Flyers are right now, and then you go back to some of those dreadfully bad losses like the one very early in the season to the win-less in first 12 games Coyotes, it just makes you cringe inside.

Or just look back a few nights ago at the loss to the Islanders. How does a team beat the Bruins (fighting for first in the East), then two days later lose to the Islanders who can't even make the playoffs?

The only minor mental bright spot might be that the Flyers play better against better teams, and for sure if they make the playoffs they'll be up against the BEST team in the first round.

Not that I'd bet money on a major upset in first round, but at least I'd hope it wouldn't be embarrassing.

Preds vs Vegas in the Western Conf Finals would be awesome.

Boston vs Pens would be great in the East.

Flyers/Penguins in the first round, should be fun, and awesome if Flyers pull off an upset. Vegas/LA and SJ/Ducks should also be good, thank god I don't need sleep.

Go Preds!

Fearless predictions for the first round of the playoffs starting tomorrow night:

Tampa/New Jersey - Lightning win easily, 5 games at most

Washington/Columbus - Blue Jackets playing better at end of year than the Capitals and I'm not liking the goaltender mini controversy in DC - taking the Blue Jackets in 6

Boston/Toronto - the Leafs have owned the Bruins in the past couple of years and took the season series 3-1 this year. Always tough to make predictions when the heart is also involved but I'll take the Leafs to win it on home ice in game 6

Pittsburgh/Philly - this series reminds me a bit of the old Toronto/Ottawa series of years past - two teams that hate each other and two fan bases that hate each other even more. Should be fun and wouldn't be surprised if the Flyers try to take Crosby out along the way. Flyers have been due for about half a decade or more now, so I'm going to say they pull off the upset and beat the Penguins in 7.

Nashville/Colorado - not buying the Avs resurgence and the Preds are a solid, if not flashy, legit Cup contender - Preds in 4

Las Vegas/Los Angeles - buying the Kings resurgence and the great year the Knights and their terrific fans have had comes to an abrupt end in the first round - Kings in 6

Winnipeg/Minnesota - I just can't figure out the Wild - maybe it's a Minnesota thing because the Vikings are just as inconsistent - but the Jets are a team I have little faith in going far - I will pick the Jets, however, to get to the second round in 7 games

Anaheim/San Jose - another of those close proximity rivalries/hate fests - Sharks made a big mistake giving up second to the Ducks in the final week of the season. Ducks win it in 5

For those who have a horse in the race, have fun and enjoy

I am getting used to not having a horse in the race...

Tampa/New Jersey - Tampa, but may be tougher than many think.

Washington/Columbus - some year, I am going to pick Washington and actually be right. Maybe this year...

Boston/Toronto - Boston will dive into the second round.

Pittsburgh/Philly - I am looking forward to this series. Pitt takes it, too many guns, but should be alot of fun.

Nashville/Colorado - I will watch this series because I enjoy watching Colorado lose. Plus Nashville is awesome, flashy fun.

Las Vegas/Los Angeles - How do you predict a series when one team has been defying expectations all year? Going with Kings, but who knows.

Winnipeg/Minnesota - Jets over the injury depleted North Stars.

Anaheim/San Jose - Another series that should be alot of fun, I am going with San Jose, because that is what the coin in my pocket predicted.

I hope Friday the 13th is a horrible day for the Penguins.

The Flyers sucked so bad in Game 1 it's beyond embarrassing.

I'm just glad Kadri isn't a Flyer. That dude deserves quite the suspension. A-hole.

Vegas wins 2-1 in double-OT. Unbelievable!

It was a horrible day for the Pens. After the hot start in game 1, they have now lost home ice advantage, and the Flyer s now know they can beat the Pens.

Kadri got a 3 game suspension. I understand it is the playoffs, but that still seems light to me.

Flyers from game 2 showed up for first period. Unfortunately the Penguins from game 1 came too. Dreadful 2nd and 3rd period for Flyers. Truly dreadful. So many penalties.
Not playoff worthy hockey at all.

You could see it, as the first period went on, and none of those great chances where going in, Flyers starting to get frustrated. Got to finish when you get chances like those.

Avs are kicking some Predator ass right now. 3-0 in the first.

Blue Jackets just scored a beautiful goal to tie the game against Washington in Period #3.

Two Columbus players passed it back and forth to each other about five times to defeat the two defenders, from the centerline on. The final pass was a thing of beauty, leaving a wide open net for the goal as the Capitals goalie had no absolutely chance.

Sweep! <3

A team I follow and care about has won a playoff series. Such a weird feeling.

Knights?

I watched that game out of the corner of my eye while writing reports. Knights are tough.

I see it coming, in fact it may have already begun. I'm becoming more of a hockey fan than NBA. The games I've seen over the past few days totally rocked!

Preds beating the Avs 3-2 last night was probably the worst game of the four or five I've seen recently, and it was a good game.

Will the pain and frustration end tonight????

We'll probably know in about 15 minutes. Maybe less.

Hockey is certainly the sport to follow this post season. Pit going for a three-peat, Capitols trying to avoid another early exit, Preds trying to prove they belong at the top of the conversation and Vegas pushing forward on a season never before seen by an expansion team, what's not to love?

For two periods of game 6 the Flyers almost gave me hope for a game 7.

Then, the third period happened.

:censored:censored:censored

Not shocked or surprised by the outcome, but damn.

Good grief Guentzel. 4 goals in a row. Craziness.
