You know, the season never really ends, and this year we've got some excitement with the expansion draft, so I figure'd I'd go ahead and start this thread.

It's kind of exciting for me, considering I haven't had an NHL team since the Thrashers left, and I've really missed watching hockey with a rooting interest. So I'm all aboard the Vegas train. Should be exciting to see how McPhee navigates the draft and what trades happen. Hopefully a decently competitive and fun team to watch comes out of all this by Wednesday.

There's some interesting names available for Vegas to take, that's for sure. Pretty sure they'll snag Philipp Grubauer from Washington to man the pipes.

Well, seeing how it took our Blue Jackets 17 years to finally become relevant, my heart goes out to all the future Golden Night fans in Vegas. Godspeed.

Bettman is trolling the Chicago crowd. "Booo", "Oh come on, you can do better than that", "BOOOOO"...

Sens lost Methot to Vegas. Huge loss. :(

He and Fleury are two bright spots on that team. They'll probably struggle to score, but maybe they will be hard to score against.

I think Vegas will trade him.

I don't think they will. Ottawa tried to get him back to no avail. Sucks because Ottawa wanted to protect him instead of Phaneuf, but unfortunately, Phaneuf has a no trade clause. Ottawa was hoping he'd temporarily waive it because there was little to no chance he would have been picked up because of his bloated salary. He still refused. ****.

Carey Price, 8 years, 84 million dollars. Tied for highest paid player in the league, until Edmonton forks over 13 + million per for McDavid(and I did not make that number up...).

McDavid came in a little cheaper than thought: 8 years, 12.5 million AAV

Hilarious when 12.5 million is, "cheaper than expected."

Sleeper bus for road travel stocked with Diet Coke and muffins.
Brawling with Orlando option.
Even our goalies score goals here.
Might see an alligator in the pond next to the arena.

Trimmed some of the boring reasons from the list...

For those interested, NHL.com is streaming the prospects tournament from Traverse City.

News, notes, comments:

99.999 % sure no NHLers at the Olympics.

Looks like changes may be coming to Off-side reviews on goals. Most likely, a 2 minute bench minor for a team that challenges when the play is onside.

Betting odds have Pitt as the favorite to win the cup this year. However, do not ream much into that, Edmonton has the second best odds...

They are really calling those slashes to the hands so far this preseason.

Drove 3 hours to Vancouver to attend my first Canucks game. Even though we lost 9-4 against Vegas I really loved it. #6 Brock Boeser is going be one of the stars of the Canucks in the next few seasons.

I know it is just the preseason, but the Devils look like they could be a really fun team to watch. I am a fan of Nico Hischeir already.

Eichel gets 10 mil a year for 8 years.

Predictions:

Atlantic: Montreal, if Price stays healthy
Metro: Washington, Holtby is just that good
Central: Minnesota seems to be the consensus most likely division winner, and I got nothing better to contradict that
Pacific: Every one seems to be picking Edmonton, but I can't do it. I am going with the Ducks

Congratz Toronto on getting the first Illegal Equipment penalty...

Pens are getting destroyed 2nd game of their season. Good! And the Rangers lost their opener. Yankees are losing. Good night all around. Especially for an Isles fan.
