GOAT Candidate criteria

Bull ****. See post 15.

THere were no freaks like Durant and Lebron back then...or ****ing Giannis. My god. 7 footers who run like someone 6-3. Or a middle linebacker who cuts into the paint like Jordan, which was Lebron in his 20's.

Go watch some of the clippers/okc series from a few years ago and see just how easily Chris Paul is able to shutdown Durant and this is in the area of no hand checking. You are way overrating physical statistics and ignoring basketball skill

That Durant lacked Curry, Thompson and Green. Green is probably the best passing P-Fwd in the league. Curry is the best shooter. And Thompson is not far behind.

Stopping Durant when he has nowhere to go but through a clogged lane to the hole, or a Durant with no one to feed him the ball, is one thing. Stopping Durant when he has two sharpshooters waiting in the wings or is able to receive passes from someone like Green...not so much.

So Durant is only great on a team filled with all-stars? that pretty much goes against the point you were trying to make about comparing eras.

Not just all-stars, but the right all-stars. All-stars who compliment his game perfectly. And, perhaps more importantly, all-stars whose game he compliments perfectly, Now, if that young guy who comes in off the bench that they put in at center develops over the next few years, they will be as dominant as the Boston Celtics from the Beatles's era.

KD should have gone to Washington. At least that would have given the East a bit of balance, while keeping the West competitive. KD, Wall and Beal would have given LeBron and Co a run for their money. Milwaukee may have been up there too had Jabari Parker not blown out his knee. Makes me wonder too what could have been had Kyle Lowry not sprained his ankle and DeRosen found his game. Certainly would not have seen Cleveland Sweep Toronto.

So, Yeah. There are a lot of good players on good teams. But, KD going to GS is a bit like when Magic was drafted number one by the already World Champion Lakers. Same almost happened in Boston, but that idiot Len Bias decided to celebrate his fortunes by smoking crack.
