My favorite players are not really etched in stone, but I recall some I liked a whole lot at the time they played.
As a kid, somewhere between 8 and 12, my favorites were Chris Everett, Johnny Bench, Bobby Hull.
As a teen, it flipped a bit. I really liked Magic Johnson and Kirk Gibson.
Later in life: Jordan and Joe Montana...oh yeah, Gretsky. I loved Wayne Getsky.
Now: LeBron and maybe PK Subban---gotta include Brady, just for what he's done.
Interesting! For me as I said when your first introduced to the games as a child those guys
remain my favorites. At the time these guys were bigger than life!
Baseball:
Because he was the first star in the first game I ever saw John Mize was my favorite, then as
a teenager Ted Williams. Everytime Boston came to the stadium I'd hope dad would take us
to see him play. I gues I saw him play about 7 to 10 games but never saw him hit a homer.
Quite a few times when I was there he'd hit towering fly balls to deep righted but Hank Bauer
was always there to shag them in.
In football it was always Army players, they were good in those days Galiffa, Pete Vann.
The pros's in the early 50's were not as popular as college ball but I rooted always for Otto Graham
Basketball wasn't that big in the middle 50's.
Boxing I was a big fan of Sugar Ray Robinson. My dad & I went to the stadium to see him
fight Basilio, I still have the ticket stub.
Kinda lost interest late in high school cars & girlfriends took priority. From the 60's through say 2000
I considered myself just a more than casual fan. I hated the steroid era when many of the baseball stats
were broken & yearly records seemed like video game stats.
Stars that I loved to watch since my love affair in sports as a child tru the lean years were Roberto Duran & Allen Iverson & pete Maravich
Since retiring my favorites are Russell Westbrook in basketball & baseball players Mike Trout, Bryce Harper & Danial Murphy.
