Kicker Becca Longo to become the first female on a football scholarship at a Division I or II school - LA Times

Becca Longo was about to make history and she didn’t even know it.When the Chandler (Ariz.) Basha High senior signed her national letter of intent with Division II Adams State on Wednesday, she became the first female football player to do so for a college at that level or higher.
Her high school football coach announced the feat during a signing ceremony, and ESPN later confirmed that no woman has ever played Division I or II football on scholarship.
"I didn't know that until today," said Longo, who has also committed to play basketball for the Grizzlies. "I'm still in shock from it. I'm just amazed."

No offense to the young lady but it's just a gimmick

connected on 35 of 38 extra-point attempts

Longo only attempted one field goal in a game all season — a 30-yarder

I don't know about that. The XP stats aren't any different than XP percentages for a bunch of D2, FCS, and lower FBS schools. And they didn't take FGs because they had an upper D1 level QB. Could definitely be a gimmick, but those stats aren't conclusive. You'd have to know how she does in practice to be sure.

Maybe it's just where I played football but pretty much any of the skill players on my high school team can make extra points and kick a 30 yard field goal.

Maybe. A good chunk of kickers were worse on extra points the last few years though at FBS, FCS, and D2 levels though. And we don't know her real FG skills since she only took one with her team's superstar QB usually going for it on 4th down.

148 kickers in FCS made over 95% of thier extra points, espn didn't have d2 stats. And most d2 schools don't give kickers a scholarship because they only get 36 for the whole team (unless it's to help the basketball team keeping thier scholorships down). Maybe she has a hidden leg and I'm just being an asshole here but it certainly has gimmick written all over it to me.
