Major League Baseball 2017

These are not HoF states.

Maybe if he does it for another nine years, and then it is a toss up.

I strongly disagree. He's already top 10 all time among catchers in Jaws 7 year peak. And top 5 among BA, OPS, WRC+, OPS+. And at just 30, he's on pace for the HOF level counting stats as well. Unless he completely breaks down in the next couple years, I think he's basically a lock.

Not hardly. He will need to maintain those figures for years to come.

Well over halfway to the HOF average in homers, hits, RBIs, and runs among catchers. Great defensive catcher. Already a better than average 7 year peak.

3 WS won't hurt Posey in his first eligible year. He'd already be a lock playing in NY, LA or CHI. He only needs 2 or 3 more Posey years .

IMO if Posey puts together 2 more good years at catcher he's in the HoF. Then if he moves to 1st base and is still a decent player? He's in, easy.

Probably at least 6.

Come together; right now; over me;; one says right now, one says 6 years; I say 2 or 3 as he's not in NY, CHI, or LA ;;

Branch Rickey of the old Brooklyn Dodgers would be trading Posey right about now; he was the first I remember to trade stars just over their prime for great prospects, as my White Sox have masterfully done during the last year ;;;

Catchers can and have fallen off talentwise pretty fast, obviously because of the beating they take behind the plate. But Posey can play 1st, or go to the AL and DH. I don't follow the Giants though, so I have no idea what their plans are for him. As bad as the Giants are this year I would think they'll tear the team down and start over. And Posey might good bait for some prospects.

Rickey? I am ancient, but I don't remember Rickey. You must have risen from the grave!!!

Branch Rickey was really the first of the modern era general managers who built great minor league systems by trading stars just over the hill. Certainly you must remember Brooklyn moving to LA in 1959, beating my White Sox 4-2 in the WS. :mrgreen::mrgreen: (I was only 5-YO at the time with Dad stationed in Morroco; all we got back then was the Yankees on Saturday afternoon)

As for my Sox, they got rid of Sale, Frazier, Robertson, Eaton, Jennings and now have 10 of the top 68 prospects in MLB; not counting Reynaldo Lopez now in the bigs pitching well and Yoan Macada a future superstar;

btw, Lopez has the only good straight change on the Sox staff, which he learned from the Nats; which he will hopefully teach to his teammates ;

Rickey was pretty innovative. He introduced batting helmets to the MLB, encouraged the use of pitching machines and brought a guy named Jackie Robinson to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.

And his ideas with baseball's farm system was revolutionary.

Wish I could like this ten times ;;

I was at Game 5 in LA.

Sherm Lollar and Gil Hodges whacked homers just to our left of the left screen. The Boys in Blue, the team of God, won, of course.

No. Five years of production at least, more.

Remember the HoF voters are easier on catchers because of the position they play. It's brutal and takes it's toll. If he puts in a couple more good years as catcher IMO he's still in, if he puts in 2 more years as catcher and then 3-4 more 'decent years as DH/1st baseman he's in EASILY!!

Branch Rickey is a baseball legend like Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb and Steve Sax.

I don't know why we need him. Its nice to have another veteran I guess going into the playoffs but who's spot is he going to take?

So was the trade for Granderson, a true professional ...

Something about being 27th in the bigs with outfield offensive production. He's a dynamite left bat, great outfielder and a professional in the clubhouse.

This almost makes you guys a lock; as I still think your starting pitching is a work in progress for the playoffs ...

Looks like we're sending down Joc Pederson. Its a shame but he deserved it.
