Major League Baseball 2017

That play with Stevenson was hot. Love the look on the pitcher's face.

Reminds me of Mays' catch in the first game of the 1954 WS. Don Little, who came into face Wertz, the guy who smashed the towering drive that Mays barely caught up to, supposedly smirked coming into the dugout and said, "Well, I got my guy."

Does anyone else remember the catch, late in Mays's career, when he climbed up Bobby Bonds to get to the top of the fence for a catch?

Harper looks to be done. Painful to watch.

So far, they are calling it a hyper-extended knee. MRI scheduled later today.

Hyperextension would be the best possible outcome. Word was he walked out of the clubhouse last night with a slight limp.

Cubs' Zobrist: MLB needs electronic strike zone

PHOENIX -- Chicago Cubs veteran Ben Zobrist has been in favor of an electronic strike zone for several years, and the Strike 3 call on him to end Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks will only fortify his stance on the matter.
The slider from reliever David Hernandez looked decidedly low, but plate umpire Mark Wegner rang Zobrist up to end a Cubs rally.
"It's a tough one," Zobrist said after the game. "There's only been one other one [in 2013] I've ever had in my career that felt worse than that, especially to end the game. It's tough. . . .

I'm hoping a month or less on the DL.

"Its just a flesh wound".

I don't see how you go from writhing in pain and unable to put weight on it to being heeled in 10 days. I'm a fan of Harper so I want to see him better but I hope they don't rush him back.

Just a bone bruise. Dodged a bullet. Ten day DL.

. . . Harper has always run in the red, which is part of his appeal to fans and, at times, an inspiration to teammates. It’s also part of the reason he will now miss significant playing time for the third time in six seasons with an injury that was incurred in a moment of admirable, but not-entirely-essential hustle. His sub-Bryce ’16 season was also hampered by a nagging painful shoulder — more than a “ding,” but less than an injury that required postseason surgery.
Harper, a free agent after ’18, now has another data point on the list of risks that would come with a 10-year contract. Was this escape an example of how rugged and durable he is? Or how frequently he tests that ruggedness?
None of Harper’s mishaps has been as visually harrowing, and frightening to fans who had to wait overnight for medical reports, as Saturday night’s first-inning calamity at first base.
“Harp plays it — as we’ve said before — 100 miles an hour with his hair on fire,” said Rizzo. “That’s the way he’s going to play it throughout his career and you can’t fault a player for going hard all the time.”. . .

By finding out nothing broke Bryce Harper, the Nationals catch an enormous break

In a season full of freak-out moments turned reasons to exhale, World Series hopes remain intact.

Giancarlo Stanton Reportedly Cleared Waivers, Marlins Can Trade Him to Any Team

Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton reportedly cleared revocable trade waivers Sunday, making the slugger eligible to get moved to any MLB team before the end of August.

On Tuesday, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports noted the majors' current leader in home runs has received interest from at least four teams despite his monster contract, which is slated to pay him at least $25 million in base salary every year through 2028 starting next season.

I've got an idea which mega bucks team will get him with their injuries. It reminds me of Babe Ruth going to the Yankees, making them what they were.

Besides the Yankees, it could also be the Red Sox with that wall and their injuries; what a combo that would be with Benintendi ;;

With their lead in the NLeast, as well as their lead over the NL Central for home field, they really don't need him for a while.

I'm still looking at tickets for the Nats series at MIL 8/31 through 9/3, a potential time for Harper to come back ...

Dodgers got the money too. The way Stanton hits home run he'll hit them in any park. He kills the Mets at Citi-Field. And that's not a hitters park.

It's like a return to the age of 1920 to 1980 when the rich get richer. It's no surprise that the big cities, and their wealthy franchises, are once again dominating MLB.

Makes for great ratings as MLB battles the NFL and NCAAF for fans as we then head into NBA and NHL .

It been that kind if year.

Earlier this year because of injuries the Mets had to play TJ Rivera in Left Field. He never played anywhere in the outfield before in his career.

Tonight? Because of injuries the Mets starting catcher, Travis d'Arnaud is starting at 3rd base. lol He's never played 3rd before.. Ever.. And to make it even funnier according to who's up and the situation during the inning d'Arnaud is flipping between 2nd base and 3rd base. Him and the starting 2nd baseman, Cabrera, will probably have run 10 miles by the time the game is over.

Milwaukee wins four straight, Cards lose three, and now all of them are bunched up again since the Cubs can't even win a series against the Reds these days.

These are not HoF states.

Maybe if he does it for another nine years, and then it is a toss up.
