105 Ranked Denis Istomin-who only won 9 matches on the tour last year, takes out 6 time Australian Open Champion Novak Djokovic in an almost 5 hour 5 set classic. Much bigger upset than when huge serving Sam Querrey took ND out at Wimbledon

There's a stunner in every Grand Slam.

well this is huge. most of them have been the Andy, Novak, Rafa and Roger show of late

I hadn't noticed that Federer was seeded 17th.

I thought that pretty neat. Istomin had to give up Tennis a few years ago, because of a very bad accident. He later started at it again and now look at him!

when he was 21 or so he was hurt so badly, doctors said he would not play again

The big issue, can he sustain that level of play for a few tournaments and then get back into main draws?

Let's wish him success.

It's good for the sport, IMO, to see something like this--assuming he didn't take a dive--is possible. One of the things I dislike about the NFL, NHL, NBA etc is that outside of a few elite teams, no one really stands a chance to make a mark.

For nearly 15 years, the NFL has almost always had a Brady, Manning or Roethlisburger in the SB. The NBA is basically a really long, boring season spent waiting for the current two super teams to meet in the finals. Hockey is a little better--at least they have some drama in the playoffs--but their regular season too is a waste of time. Tennis as well is often dominated by a select few.

It's good to see Serena and Djokovic lose once in a while. Very good.

trust me, he wanted to win that. He really did. And Denis played the match of his life. and what was great was to see the respect that each man showed the other when it was over. ND isn't my favorite player but he's a class act, winning or losing. In fact that is true with the top players on the men's side. Roger, Rafa, Andy, Stan and Novak. this is the best era of tennis probably ever in terms of the strength at the top. Roger, Rafa and Novak are three of the 5 best players ever.

Murray is on the verge of something great this year.

I like him, was sad to see him bow out, he's great to watch.

I'm behind the fed express. Love to see him win this year.

I think he's the leading contender-at least a far as the bookies are concerned but If his good friend "Stanimal" gets paste Jo-Willy I think Stan will beat Roger. I think whomever wins the Rafa-Raonic quarters is going to be the favorite though Grigor Dimitrov is playing lights out right now. Coco Vandaweghe backed up her crushing destruction of world number one Angie Kerber with an even more serious buttwhipping of Garbine Muguruza (4 and love) GM didn't really play that bad but Coco-who has a gene pool to die for, was hitting on all cylinders against a lady who has never quite lived up to the hype she generated after winning the French last year. So its Venus (who had a good win today) vs Coco guaranteeing an American Lady in your Open finals. And Serena of course is the heavy favorite-most people thought her Last round (where she won a tight one) was her toughest possible match now that the top seeds are gone though Karolina Pliskova has the firepower to give Serena trouble as does her next match, the stylish former Aussie Johanna Konta who has one of the prettiest service motions in women tennis

Dallas Cowboys getting upset by Green Bay Packers.

I don't watch tennis.

When large breast implants become mandatory for all female tennis players AND/OR they must femininely say 'oh Baby' or 'Yes Baby' or 'yes lover' or 'yes Christopher' instead of grunting every time they hit a ball...then I will watch tennis again.
Male tennis...never again probably.

Hoping this and Murray's loss helps pave the way for Milos Raonic finally winning a major. Tough for any young, up and coming player, to get past the big four on the men's side the past almost decade.

I'd be happy to see Milos win one. Be nice to see someone different win.

He's got lots of talent and a great serve, but he's been really inconsistent with a lot of injuries and seems to get sick at bad times, lots of coaching changes. If he finally settles down he could be the new age number one as the old guard starts to fade away.

Fed vs Nadal is the stuff of tennis legend.

Amazing match

I don't think hockey's regular season is a waste of time... making the layoffs isn't easy, and if a team loses a key player, like the Canadians lost Price last year, their fortunes can change quick... and talking about Quick... Budaj's been doing a great job for the Kings.

Playoff spots aren't easy in the NHL, and wildcard spots always a tough fight.

Hockey definitely has more movement in the standings during the final few months of the season than does Basketball. It's a bit more like baseball in that regard, but much more fun to watch. :)

I was rather shocked Roger won that given Rafa has owned him over the last few years. Great win for him to get by Stan and then Rafa

Roger Federer and Serena Williams are the two best tennis players of all time.

I was rather surprised how easily Roger handled Rafa (especially on a hardcourt), but it sure does look like Rafa is breaking down physically. He's certainly not the same player he was even two to three years ago.

no and yes. Rafa's high energy game has led to injuries but Federer didn't handle him easily. But for a couple aces in key spots, Nadal would have gone up two breaks in the fifth set.
