Re: San Diego Chargers fans, as I sent to my wife on learning the news of the move to

Can you swap your Jared Goff jersey in for a Rivers one if you live in LA?

Re: San Diego Chargers fans, as I sent to my wife on learning the news of the move to

Maybe if they combined the Rams and Chargers into a single team, they'd have a contender...

Re: San Diego Chargers fans, as I sent to my wife on learning the news of the move to

LA is ready to accept their second NFL team with a tradition of mediocrity.

Re: San Diego Chargers fans, as I sent to my wife on learning the news of the move to

Let's hope that LA has enough indifference to be shared by two teams.

The Chargers will be the same to LA as the Angels and Clippers. Its a Dodgers, Lakers, Rams town.

LA Chargers logo gets put up on the big screen at the Lakers/Clippers game giving this crowd something to agree on. They booed it.

Re: San Diego Chargers fans, as I sent to my wife on learning the news of the move to

Yeah, I don't live n L.A. or anywhere near it. But from a distance L.A. seems to be a USC, UCLA, Laker and Dodger town. I don't see anyway they will support 2 NFL teams, especially 2 teams that are probably going to be bad to mediocre for quite a few years.

Also I heard that to move to L.A. the S.D owner has to cough up about $500 mil to the league? And the Chargers will play in a 30,000 seat stadium in L.A. for 2 years? BUT if he stayed in S.D. the Charger's owner would only have to cough up $350 mil or so towards a new stadium? (the NFL and other investors would have picked up the rest of the tab) But said no and moved to L.A.?

Do i have all that right? Because to me it makes almost no sense to move. It costs him MORE to move to L.A., and for 2 years into a ****ty small stadium?

People on the left like to claim that California is doing great but San Diego sure is not:

Plus, do all of those recent immigrants both legal and illegal that they are overloaded with even like NFL Football?

Chargers admit mistake, ditch initial L.A. logo

Posted by Mike Florio on January 14, 2017, 1:29 PM EST

Not long after the Chargers announced their move to Los Angeles, they unveiled a new logo. It didn’t go well.

To their credit, the Chargers heard the criticism, they agreed with it, and they have taken action. The much-criticized L.A. logo, which appeared to be based on the Dodgers’ logo, is gone.

“The logo that was revealed on Thursday was meant to help launch our brand into the market and supplement — not replace — our official team marks,” Chargers president of business operations A.G. Spanos said in a statement provided to PFT. “Clearly, we miscalculated how the logo would be received, and we’ve taken it out of the rotation.”

A.G. Spanos emphasized that this is the identity of the team. “If we make a mistake, we own it, learn from it, and move on without looking back,” he said.

Spanos said that the team may “take another shot” at an L.A. logo “down the road,” and that the franchise is considering ways to involve the community’s voice in the process.

“If the ultimate outcome of this episode is something really special that L.A. fans help create and truly love, that’s a win,” Spanos said.

Plenty of other businesses would have doubled down in the face of the criticism, stubbornly adhering to an approach that had already become a punch line by refusing to look beyond an echo chamber that regards any opinion different from theirs as wrong. The Chargers have, during a hectic and challenging week, found a way to engage in an objective assessment of a bad decision and to reverse it.

It's not even a Rams town- there were already empty seats when they played last year. LA had two teams before (Raiders and Rams) and they both fizzled out. There's just so many other things to do- the NFL was never hardcore and Angelinos love to root for other teams (growing up there, everybody had a different NFL cap in school). I predict both teams will eventually leave again.

Re: San Diego Chargers fans, as I sent to my wife on learning the news of the move to

And I'm still trying to figure out why Spanos thought is was a better move to spend $500+ mil to go to L.A., and play in a crappy 30,000 seat stadium for 2 years than stay in S.D. and spend only $350 mil or so on a new stadium.

The only thing I can come up with is that he REALLY wanted to go to L.A.. But given L.A. track record with the NFL I don't understand that either.
