"Washington Redskins (12th)Pass-blocking rank: 13th
Run-blocking rank: 15th
Penalties rank: 12th
Stud: Maybe not his best season, but still a lot better than most. Trent Williams showed why he got the new deal.
Dud: After an impressive enough run, it was surprising to see Kory Lichtensteiger struggle so much before he was put on the shelf injured.
Summary: Washington is reaping the rewards of some good drafting. Trent Williams is a lynchpin on the line, but the pleasant surprise is Morgan Moses looking like a longtime starter, while rookie first-rounder Brandon Scherff finished the year incredibly strong. Heading in the right direction."

"32. Washington Redskins
Starter: Matt Jones
Backup: Chris Thompson, Rob Kelley
Key stat: Matt Jones recorded the eighth-best elusive rating of any rookie last year.
Washington was nearly a unanimous decision for the bottom spot among PFF analysts; there’s not much at all to get excited about with this group. The Redskins’ offensive line was much-improved in 2015, but the running backs continually let them down with poor reads and little creativity. Chris Thompson and Matt Jones posted the 55th- and 66th-best overall grades among NFL RBs, respectively, among 69 qualifying running backs."

Washington Signed Ronald Patrick to practice squad 9-21-16

Bill Callahan, Washington Offensive Line Coach, might have known Ronald Patrick from the Cowboys.

"The Dallas Cowboys have picked up South Carolina guard Ronald Patrick via undrafted free agency. The Cowboys get a consistent performer in Patrick, a player who represents South Carolina's success in developing talent in recent years.

Patrick was not considered an elite prospect coming out of Florida in high school, but he worked his way into starting all but a single game at right guard over the past two years, with the game he missed being due to injury. He distinguished himself as a reliable run blocker after moving into the starting lineup, culminating in a 2013 season in which Patrick played a major role in an impressively productive Gamecocks ground attack. He has consistently shown the ability to create holes against interior defenders, and he can also regularly be seen making blocks on the run when the ball carrier gets to the second level. This scout was quite impressed by Patrick's performance in the Central Florida game, when the Gamecocks relied heavily on the ground game in the second half en route to churning out the win."

Josh Norman, Corner, is paid so much, and Washington has been burned in free agency so often, that Josh Noman deserves some space.

"Washington began the season with Norman at LCB and Bashaud Breeland at RCB. They clearly felt that their duo was good enough to just line up and win one-on-one against the offense, and because of that, they haven’t incorporated any of the schematic wrinkles into the defense that Seattle does because of what Sherman allows them to do. Instead, the Redskins simply ran their defense as if they had just taken it out of the box and expected it to work. Breeland—talented though he is—just isn’t quite good enough to live with receivers as destructive as Brown and Bryant, and while Norman has been perfect against that pair, Breeland has been eaten alive. He surrendered 113 yards and two scores to Brown on Week 1, and had allowed four catches for 57 yards to Bryant before the team decided they needed to make a change.

From that point, Norman was asked to start following Bryant. When the fourth quarter opened, Norman was lined up one-on-one against the Cowboys’ top WR on the right side of the defense, a departure from his usual spot on the left. Strangely, there was no straw that broke the camel’s back to cause the change—the team just decided to make the switch heading into the final period."

"The Redskins needed help at center. John Sullivan needed a job. The two were a good a match this week.

Sullivan, 31, a long-time starting center for the Minnesota Vikings, was cut on Aug. 30. A pair of back surgeries ruined his 2015 season and Sullivan lost the competition. Unable to trade him, the Vikings cut him instead. Just like that an offensive line mainstay was gone. Sullivan started 93 of 96 games there between 2009 and 2014."

Wtf is this

Walters lists currently available free agents. John Sullivan was not on the Walters list of available Centers. So that shows, I suppose, that Scot McCloughan, Redskins General Manager, had some good resources for Centers. Where do you find good Centers in the middle of the season?
