Instead of derailing the NFL thread, I thought I'd throw this out there in its own venue. Here is a detailed account of how the trade went down and why the Vikings went with Sam.

Sam Bradford trade explained by Eagles, Vikings GMs | The MMQB with Peter King

I got up on the white board, and we sorted out the scenarios—guys on the street we might want, guys who might get cut, guys on teams that might have enough depth that they’d consider dealing [a quarterback]. Names and options. Then we all got to work watching tape, and I started making calls. To be honest, there was no solution. No good solution.

I know Sam Bradford is not Peyton Manning of 2004, but he seems to have been the Viking's best option. Hopefully it works out.

I don't see how they can even begin to defend that trade. Who else wanted Bradford? Maybe the Cowboys but they wernt going to give up a 1st let alone a 2nd pick too. Did the Vikings really think the Eagles were just going to turn down something like a 2nd round pick, maybe toss in a 5th, and just hold on to Bradford for spite when they knew that he was a throwaway player for them? The Vikings got robbed and not the 1st time for them.

Well at least it's not the worst trade they have ever made.

It wasn't a great trade but the Vikings didn't have many other options.

Sam Bradford is a lot better than the other quarterbacks available.
