2016 College Football Season Thread[W:1138]

Re: 2016 College Football Season Thread

I guess academics who are SEC fans are just the worst for you then. ;)

Remind me again how 20% of LSU budget is the football team, even as the college declared bankruptcy

If they want me to take them seriously as an institution, then cut the football team and all other non academic costs

Schmack talking is one thing. Denigrating is another. This is about football. If your team sucks, I'm sorry. But how about standing up for your team rather than derailing a thread just to **** on another one.

This.

And at the very least Vandy, UF, UGA and TaM have nothing to apologize for.

Re: 2016 College Football Season Thread

honestly hearing SEC fans talk **** about academics is pretty damn hilarious

there's a reason Vanderbilt finishes first in academics and last in athletics every single year and it's because they make their teams share facilities with intramurals

Oh, brilliant logic!

Your conference is???????

Re: 2016 College Football Season Thread

Do community colleges have conferences?

Harhar....

Well i did enroll at a community college, back in 10th grade

I don't make the mistake of conference pride, especially when it comes to academics, which has even less to do with football

I'm fully aware that, even within a top-rated university, the football players can barely scribble a complete sentence together

Roll Damn Tide

Who?

A car full of Georgia students were in downtown Tuscaloosa to attend a UGA vs. Alabama football game. It was a typical Georgia car, a '93 Mercury homemade convertible with fenders of 3 different colors. There were 8 people in the car.

Lost, they stopped at a stop light and wondered how to find the Bryant-Denny stadium when they saw a guy walking across the street, all spiffy and wearing a tie.

"Hey, let's ask that guy. Maybe he can tell us how to get to the stadium."

The driver of the car rolled down the window and yelled at the well dressed man crossing the street, "Hey, buddy. Hey! We came here from, Toccoa, Georgia to watch the Dawgs kick Alabama's ass. See can you tell us where the stadium is at."

The man crossing the street looking annoyed and responded, "You don't need to tell me y'all are from Georgia. It is obvious from looking at your car. If you had graduated from the University of Alabama you would know not to end a sentence with a preposition. No matter, if you can rephrase the question without ending it in a preposition I'll be glad to tell you how to get to the stadium.

"Your know you're right", said the man driving the car from Georgia, "we know not to end a sentence with a preposition. We are just a little excited and want to get to the game. Grammar took a backseat to our excitement. Let me rephrase the question so as not to end the sentence in a preposition.

Hey, buddy, can you tell us where the Bryant-Denny stadium is at, asshole?"

Oh, OK, then. Go NYU!

Re: 2016 College Football Season Thread

Bad news for you the LB's suck. Eason has a chance to be good but he's a pro style freshman QB this year he will suck balls. Look for more Gator dominance in Jville. I will be there.

With any luck I will be there as well. It is always a great game.

Prediction: Florida will continue to suck hind teat.

Re: 2016 College Football Season Thread

Also folks... keep an eye on Georgia Southern. This will be their 4th year in FBS football.

2013: 7-4 (Ineligible for a bowl)
2014: 9-3 (Won the Sunbelt conference in just their 2nd year. Ineligible for a bowl.)
2015: 9-4 (Won the GoDaddy Bowl in the first year they were eligible to go to a bowl)

For an FBS team, this university sits in probably the most prime recruiting section of the country.

I got a kick out of seeing a recent clip of Saban talking about getting their asses handed to them by Georgia Southern in 2011.

You know I'm a Georgia Southern fan as well as Valdosta State.

Those coon asses don't give a damn what you think.

Geaux, Tigers.

they did that to the Gators as well. Thankfully we offloaded Muschamp to South Carolina who will likely be D2 in four years.

They last time I checked, about a year ago, the University of Florida ranked a little bit better than UGA academically.

A little but both in the same ballpark. I posted a link earlier in this thread to that effect

Then don't act so mortified when i simply point out how badly they have failed

P.S. wrong about NYU as well

ESPN recently ranked Muschamp as the coach most likely to be ejected from the game under the new NCAA rule concerning behavior infractions incurred by the bench.

No doubt upon hearing ESPN's opinion Muschamp punched a hole the concrete wall in his office.

Re: 2016 College Football Season Thread

No ****? What bowl did y'all go to?

I don't acknowledge bowls either. They're just southern exhibitions to me

Playoffs i could get into, if the southern teams ever have the balls to place 1st round on campus

Go ahead, get it out. Your favorite team got its clock cleaned by SEC schools.

There is actually an entire culture behind SEC football. Indoctrination starts at a very young age. The South is loaded with talent that is developed and coached probably like no other region in the nation. The South to this day still does not have the connection to pro football that is enjoyed by the rest of the nation. In the South, especially the SEC, college football is number one.

Ask Powerob about high school games in Valdosta.

My vote would go to one of the Stoops triplets.

My favorite team thrashed Florida yet again in its last game. I fully expect to thrash them again next season in Dallas, but I call it as i see it, being not so "indoctrinated" as you put it - I genuinely do not give much of a rat's ass about "neutral" site games. I can find no excuse for them, when we have the best stadiums right here

The irrational obsession with football that you describe applies equally to Ohio State and others in the midwest. Hell, at Penn State they raped dozens of kids to protect football. I also grew up in a small town totally obsessed with football. What that experience taught me is to seek out places that allow for a more balanced perspective. That's all. Example: $0 of my tuition goes to sports. At Western Michigan, a commuter school with a ****ty MAC team, students dole out $1600 each per year just to cover football. At VCU, students dole out $1k just to keep Shaka Smart as the basketball coach. At LSU, well, i already went into how whacked their priorities are

People here care about football, but they focus firstly on their research, study abroad, and projects, and they know full well they'll never see the football players in class

That's absolutely not true. Some football players don't care much about academics; some, however, do. You might be surprised by the number of pro players who complete their degrees during spring semesters.
