That doesn't seem true. More champions have decreased their win total than increased the last 15 years. And yeah there have been some repeats, but I don't see anything to suggest that most of them were any better, just good at keeping the core together.

Not necessarily better, but usually good enough to make the conference final. I think the Cavs will be better though because of what I wrote after you grabbed the post.

I don't see why Love would suddenly fit in better. And I really see no reason why James would suddenly have his best season at 32.
