Police say gunman claimed to be ‘UFC fighter from California’

San Antonio chief: shooter at large but no danger to public

A man who was turned away from a bar in Texas on Friday night shot and wounded at least eight people in the parking lot, police said.

Police were searching for the gunman, who fled the scene, the San Antonio police chief, William McManus, said at a briefing early on Saturday.

The gunman was part of a small group that left a bar in northern San Antonio and walked across the street to Rebar, a large nightspot that often has live music and DJ performances.

The group was turned away at the door because they were “inebriated”, McManus said.

The police chief said one of the members of the group responded by saying: “Don’t you know who I am? I’m a UFC fighter from California.”

That man then walked back to his car across the street, got a long rifle, walked back to the Rebar parking lot and opened fire, McManus said.

The victims were five women and three men between the ages of 23 and 41.

How is he "no danger to public"?

Good to see they're only ysing their weapons to combst tyranny.

The title should've been:

"Drunk shoots up Texas bar"

Am I the only one who thinks there is not any real worthwhile information in this release?

What's known is:
it was Friday night in northern San Antonio at a bar.
A group of “inebriated” people were at that bar and crossed the street to -- and here is where we get the most detailed line in the report:
the Rebar, a large nightspot that often has live music and DJ performances.
They were turned away because they were “inebriated”
"a man" took offense, went to his car and got "a long rifle"
That man went back to the Rebar parking lot and shot "five women and three men between the ages of 23 and 41".
Then "the gunman, fled the scene" - I read in another article he fled "in a dark black sedan"

So, who were the other people in that “inebriated” group? Can't they identify the "man" ? What's a long rifle? normally the press has it as an AK-47 maybe it was a 22, or a 308? but it's definitely a "long rifle". What was the name of the bar they left, must not have been as nice as the Rebar.

IF you are in northern San Antonio, Texas, be on the look out for a man driving a dark sedan, but be careful he has a long rifle.
At least we know a good place to visit there, the Rebar has live music and DJ performances.

Don't know about the US bUT a long rifle here generally means a big game hunting rifle that is not styled to be tacticool

With the events of the last few hours in Atlanta and 27 year old Rashard Brooks being shot in the back and killed by Atlanta police is going to set off some violence for sure.

He was asleep in his car at a drive-through, now he's dead. YES, he resisted, but why was he taken by two cops to begin with? A white guy in San Antonio can wound and shoot people with rifles and the police statement said, "Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the suspect and get more details on what happened." What-what?

People run for many reasons, far too many reasons but none of them deserves to be deadly. So the cops yell "stop" and he doesn't stop. So the cop pulls out his gun and shoots him in the back. It's insane. Louisiana cops also killed an autistic six year old white boy and wounded his father when they fired shots into the car he was in.

Aren't police given the barest minimum of training that tells them to check who they're shooting towards before pulling the trigger? Have cops become too aggressive for their jobs and should be given more training? I don't know the answer to this, not even close.

I do think that black people have good reason to fear the cops and I understand why they fight back or run. There's bad cops out there and they're fighting to keep their bad ways alive.

You want to go with this new story or the story of a drunken UFC fighter from CA?
Which one is more interesting?

Let me narrow down my point for you. A white guy shoots up a bar and injures 8 people. What are the actions being taken by police, Did they find him? Did they wrestle him to the ground or shoot him in the back or kneel on his neck until he was dead? Or, did they announce they will "review surveillance video and get more details"? If they do find him, will they treat him the same as cops treated George Floyd or Rayshard Brooks?

You know what the answer is. There's no doubt he will not be treated as the other black guys have been.

Apparently you know more than anyone else what the police will do if they find him.
Why should anyone have to venture a guess after you have already reached your own conclusions?
