Prosecutor: Texas teen mistakenly killed friend in school

HOUSTON (AP) — A 16-year-old student mistakenly shot his friend in their Houston-area high school’s ROTC room before fleeing and being arrested several hours later, officials said Wednesday.

The two were in a room at Bellaire High School with four other students but no adult Tuesday afternoon when the 16-year-old took a semi-automatic pistol out of his waistband and pulled the trigger, killing 19-year-old Cesar Cortes, said Lt. Greg Bartlett.

Kid was charged with manslaughter. 'He only made a mistake by pulling the trigger on his semi-auto handgun.'

He ****ed up royally taking the gun from where ever it was located. Then taking the gun from the house. Then taking it to school. Then whipping it out. THEN pulling the trigger. This idiot was failing from the time he got out of bed.

He pulled out a gun he could not legally possess and pulled the trigger "accidentally" killing his friend?

What the hell would he be intentionally trying to do by firing a gun inside a high school's ROTC room but kill someone? "Here, watch me shoot this window out, it'll be cool. No one will know" ?!

I suppose the idea must be that he was showing it to his friend, but was a moron so not only took it out in a way that pulled the trigger but also had not even engaged the safety in the first place. But again, minors who go about with loaded firearms illegally generally aren't likely to have the most innocent of motivations.

With friends like that ………….
