As many call for tighter gun laws, Texas' set to loosen up

As many call for tighter gun laws, Texas''' set to loosen up

Beginning Sept. 1, it will be easier to carry and store guns in Texas, home to five of the 20 deadliest shootings in the United States since 1900.

Ten new pro-gun laws will take effect in Texas in four weeks, less than a month after 22 people died in a mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso.

Gov. Greg Abbott signed the measures after they were passed in a 2019 legislative session that the National Rifle Association, or NRA, called "highly successful" at the time, celebrating that the measures "will further loosen Texas' permissive gun laws" and would send the "gun control crowd home empty-handed."
    =================================================
I've had a problem with Texas' gun control policies since at least 1970 when I had a confrontation about guns with a TX citizen at a trade show. It may be in their wild-west culture, but these people have some deeep probleems.

Speaking as a born and raised Texan, you simply do not understand our undying and deep obsession with guns. The vast majority of Texans are very much of the "you can have my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers" opinion. No, they will not be changing anytime soon.

Being pro-gun control in Texas is like being gay in the 1960's, you just keep it to yourself because of the social stigma.

Um! were not the new laws scheduled to go into effect before the shooting occurred?
I live in Texas and have no issues with our gun laws!
I personally do not carry, but know lots of people who do.

So you want to continue to protect mass murderers who want to kill people in churches, schools, who live in apartments, and during disasters by outlawing anyone being able to stop them as a matter of pro-mass murder public policy.

Why are progressives so pro-mass murder? Why are you in your message?

My guess is that unlike the Democratic Party and most progressives, most Texans don't love mass murders, murderers, and rapists. The Republican Party is anti-criminal. The Democratic Party is pro-criminal.

The Republican Party wants murderers shot. The Democratic Party wants murderers protected and law abiding citizens shot. It is that simple.

I can understand why a person being pro-rape and pro-murder probably should keep their mouth shut about it in public. That could really scare some people about that person - and should.

its astonishing people like you think this is an intelligent argument, just making up complete fiction to attack the poopyhead liberals.

Good, let texas allow everybody to carry guns everywhere and watch the death toll rise. Or watch all those "I would have stopped the shooter' run around away screaming if they were actually faced with that situation. Or wait until someone gets a bit jumpy and irrational and start shooting innocent people. Because humans in general are a holes, great idea giving everybody a gun

Tell me, how did Texas' lax gun control work out for all those people in the Sutherland Springs church?

Why do you support what happened to them?

Re: As many call for tighter gun laws, Texas' set to loosen up

    From the article

Texas is home to almost 1.4 million holders of active firearm licenses.

Texas had previously permitted approved foster parents to keep licensed firearms in their homes, but only if weapons and ammunition were stored in separate locked locations. The new law allows guns and ammunition to be stored together in the same locked location.

A new law removes "the premises of a church, synagogue or other established place of religious worship" from the list of locations where carrying a licensed handgun is a misdemeanor. Beginning Sept. 1, gun owners will be allowed to carry properly licensed handguns into a church unless the church explicitly declares that it bans weapons on its grounds.

A new law expands state regulations that allow licensed gun owners to transport and store their weapons in parked vehicles on school grounds by banning school districts from specifying how they must be stored.

A new law will ban landlords from including "no firearms" clauses in leases. The NRA-ILA said such clauses violate "the Second Amendment rights of renters."

Texas will now allow gun owners to carry their guns with them while evacuating from a state- or local-declared emergency — even if they don't have valid licenses to carry.

The new Texas gun laws will not make anyone any less safe then they currently are!
"I want to be clear, Iím not going nuts"
