Woman fatally shoots burglar

So she says, taking advantage of Texas law? Is there any evidence he broke in?

Is there evidence he did not? So far there have been no updates. So ASSUMING she's not lying, she was well within her rights. Now, if an investigation turns up new information, we can discuss that.

So you condone just shooting people before they have presented themselves as a viable threat? Great.

If he entered her home without permission he was a viable threat. You don’t play 20 questions in a situation like that.

He might have been lost, and was asking directions...

From what I have gathered (from local gossip) is that he had been staying there in the past and was no longer welcome.

Not that I have heard (via local gossip) but there is talk of him no longer being welcome to visit.

I have looked around on line and seen no links to anything other than what was in the OP. If you have any sort of link to something substantive... But even then, if he was kicked out and broke back in... she was still within her rights to shoot him.

The investigation is still active according to one of my neighbors who is scheduled to talk further with the sheriff. If no charges are brought then I doubt anything more will appear in the news.

Not in Texas... why the hell would you charge someone with any of that for defending their home?

Murder is a federal law...

So, person enters your home without permission = shoot to kill?

What is wrong with some of you?

Why would I let someone come into my house without permission?

Someone I don't know enters my home I grab my shotgun and if they do not make an immediate exit... they get lead poisoning. It's really a simple concept here.

We have a dead person and an assumption that she's not lying. Very bizarre perspective.

...and of course when that happens we shoot them. Sounds very reasonable.

I have no information to suggest otherwise. If she's lying the police will do their jobs. Until then, she's innocent of anything wrong.

At least you give the person a chance to leave...

Sioux Falls police: Man charged with breaking into woman's home, raping her

According to court documents filed in the investigation:

On Jan. 5, a woman living in an apartment in the 7400 block of West Stoney Creek woke up and saw a man wearing a black winter cap standing at the end of her bed. When she screamed, he put his hand over her mouth and forced her head back against the headboard, causing it to bleed.

Do you have any idea how fast these events happen? The bad guys don't liek, walk in and say "Hey I'm here to do you harm buddy..." IF you wait around to find out what they want... it's generally too late.

If someone breaks into my home, yes I will shoot them without regret or hesitation. AS it so far, appears she did.

if someone breaks into a home-at a time a home is normally occupied, the law in most states presumes that the intruder intends to confront and harm the occupants. So she most likely acted legally. The caveat being, There might be additional information. But as a general rule-break into a locked home at times people are normally home-that justifies the intruder being shot

Burglary carries the death penalty? Knocking on a strangers door carries the death penalty? Hmmmm

you appear confused. Shooting a home invader is to prevent the invader from harming you. it is not a criminal sentence.

Uh-huh...
