In AZ, if your kid has a fever you BETTER listen to the doctor!

And you can choose not to vaccinate your kids. Just keep the little plague-ridden infectious disease carriers away from children from sane families.

A very poor choice of words there. Apologized for elsewhere.

I don't disagree, but I doubt the doctor picked from a list of options.

Child services/the police would be the people to put that question to. I'd wager it's pretty common for SWAT to serve time sensitive warrants, since they're most often on standby. Maybe they were the only thing available.

The only other idea I can come up with is that possibly this family has a history of resisting police, so they were expecting trouble. The family made them kick the door in even with a warrant. Not a lot of RN's are going to be up for that.

I agree that the doctor's response wasn't the problem. A nurse at the door is a whole lot less threatening than the police so she or he might very well have been able to gain admittance without all the drama. If not the police would then have been an appropriate option.

Your spawn are a public health risk if you’re an anti-vacation loon. Democracy or no.

Because everyone needs a vacation from time to time?

Cops don't need to be breaking down doors in the middle of the night because a two year old has a fever. Cops don't need to break down doors any time unless there is strong evidence of a serious crime.

:lamo Yes indeed. As for this matter..I’m fine with it because I’m tired of these loonatics unleashing their typhoid babies on society.

A couple decided not to take their feverish child to the hospital. Hours later police kicked down their door

Basically, 2 year old kid has fever of 100. Mom takes him to doctor. Doctor suggests Emergency Room. Kid's fever breaks so mom takes kid home and tells doctor she's not going to the ER. Doctor calls Child Protective Services and, ultimately, the SWAT team kicks in mom's door, takes her kids and sends her to counseling before she can have kids back....all with some judge's approval.

Unquestionably being unable to pay a $6000 ER room visit because the child has 100 degree fever warrants a SWAT squad kicking in the door. Anyone who doesn't have at least $5000 should lose their children.

and when someone gets tired of something you're doing or are accused of doing, the cops will come and break down your door in the middle of the night and threaten to shoot you as well. That will be OK, right?

We're now in a position where anti-vaxxers are endangering not only their own children but the children of others as well. I don't know that the door needs to be broken down but taking custody of the child to see to the health needs its parents are neglecting? Maybe.

Yeah, a SWAT team should be sent against every child with HIV/AIDs and every child who allergic to vaccinations. The Spartans had a highly efficient way to deal with "typhoid babies," though I don't think they killed every child who ever had a 100 degree level fever or within 1 generation the Spartans would be extinct.

However, on the flip side of what I wrote the police were given a warrant and emergency child rescue order to serve - meaning not their decision. The article says they knocked on the door many times, hearing someone coughing inside. But they did not instantly kick in the door. Next, the police phoned the father and he told them he wouldn't let them in and refused to release the child to go to the hospital. At the same time they had a warrant saying a 2 year old's life was in imminent danger. Maybe the father or mother would harm the child instead of allowing the child to be taken.

So the police HAD to go in. I can see how with that level of resistance and all nice ways exhausted, the police doing a sudden huge raid because for all they knew the child could die if not the parents could be heavily armed meth-head wackjobs.

I see both sides in theory - but then again I wasn't there and blogs, the press and media can get details SO wrong - recklessly, innocently or deliberately.

Banning them from public places, as has been done in places, makes sense. Breaking down doors and taking people away at gunpoint does not.
