Here's one for the record books.
Tucson is on the short list of places for Amazon to build a new plant. The city Economic Development Council decided to send Jeff Bezos a Saguaro cactus as kind of a gift to show their appreciation for his consideration. That's nice.
Except for a couple of things.
A Saguaro cactus is a desert plant. It needs a generally dry and sunny climate to thrive and even then only grows in certain elevation ranges. How much sun and dry is there in Seattle? NONE!!!!
The folks at Amazon were able to figure that out but our own people, not so much. This is the kind of stupid crap that prevents Tucson from getting off the ground floor economically. The idiots running the city and county are more concerned about appearances and what cocktail parties they might get invited to than they are about actually bringing in business that can help grow the community.
Marana gets it. Oro Valley gets it. Those towns got it enough to make sure that they broke off from Tucson and went their own way. Tucson, however, is too ****ing stupid to recognize a good thing when they see it. These idiots are more concerned that if we put 50k people to work in high paying jobs we'll gentrify all the homeless and illegal aliens out of town. We can't be having any of that in Tucson!! We gotta make sure that we keep the streets full of potholes and the sidewalks full of potheads. That's what Tucson is all about, damn it!!
