Democrats pass on Texas in 2018

I'm disappointed; the Democrat Party needs fresh faces, and the Castros still need national name-recognition. The article--at least to me--stops just short of saying that they're carefully and calculatedly putting their political futures first rather than having the guts to step up now. I do think a Cruz challenger would probably be crushed, but I still wish that energizing the Hispanic base wouldn't be delayed."

Its too bad we don't have a well-funded Tea Pot conservative to challenge john cornyn in the republican primary

Why?

Ranked the 2nd Most Conservative Senator by National Journal in 2013.
Rated A+ and endorsed by the National Rifle Association for his work protecting the gun rights of Texans.
Endorsed by Texas Right to Life and Texas Alliance for Life.
Named a ‘Hero’ of the taxpayer by Citizens Against Government Waste for scoring a 95% on their scorecard.
Holds a perfect 100% score from Americans for Tax Reform.
Holds a perfect 100% rating from National Right to Life.
Has a 94% score from Americans for Prosperity.
Has a 95% score from the American Conservative Union.
Holds a 91% rating from the Faith and Freedom Coalition.
Member of the Senate Republican Steering Committee, a policy group comprised of the Senate’s most conservative Republicans.

You could find a simular scorecard for Mitch mcconnell who no one would confuse with a friend of the republican base

In 2010 we had the summer of Tea Party protests at town halls across America

John Cornyn hid under his desk in washiington and never faced the people

Like many republicans I'm sure he came to washington with good intentions.

But he has been there too long to remember many of the conservative ideals that brought him there.

I don't want the seat to flip to the democrats but I would like to see a different republican carring the ball for Texas

Beto O'Rourke is seeking the Democratic senate nomination for 2018

I suppose he has to, since hes got no other options in politics.

He promised only to serve four terms in the U.S. House, and next year’s election would mark the last time he could run and keep that promise.

Is Beto O'Rourke On a 'Suicide Mission'?

I dont see it going well for him hes got very little name recognition and he hasnt put himself out there on any issues

Conservatism - 2

La Raza - 0

The political Inbreeds are still on a roll in Texas. Oh well, no sense in interrupting the Texas Dark Ages until the educational standards can be lowered a bit more so people can begin to understand why Idiocracy has become the official state political ideology.

It's OK. I'm going to run against Greg Abbott for Governor in 2018.

Make Tejas Great Again!

Maybe Abortion Barbie can run again.

Those two la raza boys will never get wide office in Texas

Democrats are just dumb. You dont put your rising stars up against some of the most popular republicans. You take out the less popular geezz. At least the Castro twins know this thats why they pulled out.

Sure just have them wait another decade put your "rising stars" on ice until they are in their 50s. Please become a democratic strategist, I'll even write you a glowing letter of recommendation.

Everyone knows the Governor and the two senates seats are not going to change in the near future. If they want to take Texas they need to go after house repesentatives and the state legislator. Which is alot easier to do and allow them to block the republicans there. I personally think they're bright stars if we can call them that would be better suited in other states like Pennsylvania or Florida or Ohio. Where the republicans are at least challenged in those states.

And with that attitude it never will change, so keep it up

I don't think I can agree. Julian already has national name-recognition. Joaquin doesn't yet, but as carefully as they seem to calculate political opportunity, I think he will.

Nope, the only, ONLY reason Julian has any is Obama elevated him to HUD I believe it was. They are both bad people.

Castro only mentions his mother once and barely tells her story. That might be because she is the real source of his commitment to government as the solution. In fact, he previously stated "My mother is probably the biggest reason that my brother and I are in public service.” She was a political activist that helped establish La Raza Unida which means The United Race. When asked about the Alamo, Rosie Castro stated "I can truly say that I hate that place and everything it stands for." This is not exactly mainstream American thinking. There is nothing wrong with ethnic identity and pride. We have many such manifestations. But being against an iconic American symbol speaks loudly of her twisted perception of American life.
Now Ms. Castro has her two sons in office where, instead of aiming toward providing impetus for their community building businesses and participating in the miracle of American free enterprise, they want to tether people to government through their “investment” of our money on the projects they deem appropriate.
Yes, Grandma would be rolling in her grave; and, though she might be proud of her grandsons for achieving public office, she also might say to them “Go get a job and see what real life is like.”

The jerrymandering keeps TX firmly in the GOP camp.

The jerrymandering keeps TX firmly in the GOP camp.

You cant blame gerrymandering when Democrats run someone like Wendy Davis for Governor.

If we didn't have 5 of the top ten metro areas in the country, there might not be a Leftist office holder at all.

Well, we now know who to blame, not Obama, but all those Righties in power, thanks.
