Democrats pass on Texas in 2018

I'm disappointed; the Democrat Party needs fresh faces...

The Democrats prefer the wrinkled old corrupt prunes they have rather then let someone young, fresh face walk onto the stage and steal the thunder of grumbling old twits like Warren, Cummings, Waters and Feinstein. That's part of their damn problem. Too many gung-ho extreme leftists who hump legs with the East and West coast elites while chanting "Middle America? **** them!".

Um... a democrat is running his party's senate primary.

That is one scumbag family.

The harshest comments from GOPartisans are always reserved for the Democrats they fear the most .

Same old boogiemen being trotted out by the 2012 GOParty of "legitimate rape" and the 2018 GOParty of "rape is a preexisting condition" .

You cant blame gerrymandering when Democrats run someone like Wendy Davis for Governor.

The Texas gerrymandering maps for congressional districts and the state house that were ruled illegal go to trial in July .

Castro twins stand up Texas Democrats for the 2018 election dance

I'm glad Joaquin chose not to run in a primary against Beto that would have only helped Kamikaze Kruz--the name given to him by the Wall Street Journal.

O'Rourke is going to give Cruz all he can handle, with GOP dark money already stretched thin through 11/7/17.

The gerrymandering secret in TX, which I'm sure you are aware of, is that the 25 GOP CDs in 2016 averaged 90,000 more voters per CD for POTUS and 74,000 more voters per representative.

All 36 house reps were reelected in TX, 25-11. 8 out of 25 GOP CDs did not have a DEM candidate at all, while curiously, the two DEM candidates who didn't have a GOP candidate were Joaquin and Beto.

DEMs have a weak bench in TX, though quality DEM candidates are exploding across the Nation. Joaquin should stay in his CD and Julian should run for a RED CD .

Cruz already has enough money leftover to run a competitive race for senator and there's no gaurentee that it will even be competitive

The fact that minorities refuse to vote has nothing do with gerrymandering

Dems are losing spots all through the the nation and have very few young quality candidates. It's pretty much the Castro brothers and Booker. Everyone else of importance is old or has already lost too badly to recover like Grimes and Davis.

Did you miss the July trial date for the two Texas gerrymandered maps?

There is indesputable proof across the Nation that gerrymandered maps drive down voter totals.

Gerrymandering and voter suppression laws will not be on the AG's list of concerns .

Well, we now know who to blame, not Obama, but all those Righties in power, thanks.

Texas seems to be doing fine overall. Land of plenty.

People are flocking to live here.

Did you miss when your boy Castro was up for re-election as mayor and the turn out was 6%? In the 7th biggest city in the US, 1.4 million people, Castro won with just 34,309 votes. There is no gerrymandering city limits, latino democrats in texas simply just dont vote.

I disagree. Republicans are pouring lots of money into Ted Cruz' campaign, and Trump will be actively campaigning for him. This is in a state that has not elected a Democrat to statewide public office in almost 3 decades. Is it because Beto is so good? No, it's because Cruz is that bad.

I predict that Cruz will win re-election here, but barely. He is a joke. Want to know how most Texans feel about Cruz?

Texas won't elect a Democrat this year, but Cruz is a laughing stock among Liberals and Conservatives alike.

Conservatism - 2 La Raza - 0

More like 'nativist/white power' 2, open society 0.... for now.

Fact is the tide is strong and that fear drives the white power base in Texas. However I see Texas as THE place to show Hispanics can and will be not only good Americans but great leaders both in business and politics. The longer 'conservatives' try and stop history the more bitter the fight will become and the aftermath more disruptive.

In a way it's like Sam Houston's Texas being turned on it's ear, but do not fear white folks, these 'invaders' don't want to declare a separate Republic, they just want what your grandparents wanted- a place at the table in this country... :peace

Is the world that easily divided?

For some it is. I have two sister in-laws who live in TX. Both visited this week and told us they are voting for Cruz even though they both hate his guts. Why? Because Cruz is a known quantity--even though said quantity is sniveling, Trump groveling POS--while O'Rourke is an unknown which scares them.

Of course, Texas plays a part. In Texas they do not get much in the way of a progressive influence with which to balance all the RW stupid they are exposed to daily. Needless to say, the wife and I looked at her sisters like they were short bus riders. And, politically speaking, they are.

Yea, and the Red river is the only thing that separates TX from OK. Neither likes Commies.

Texas is very close, at least as of today. Three August polls, all have Cruz in the lead, by 4, 4, and 1. That's within tje margin of error of plus or minus 4 points. So the race may be tied or Cruz could lead by as much as 8. Texas certainly deserves an eye to be kept on it.

In my forecast I moved Texas back onto my watch list. The race is competitive. Like you, I doubt O'Rourke will win. But the fact he is very much in this race says a lot about the mood of the country vs. Trump.

The silly slur 'commie' is so passe…. It's was part of an old Jody we sang in the Infantry- "Kill a Commie for Mommy!"

Most so-called conservatives use socialist now... :2wave:

Anyway if you mean commie then why the racial term La Raza??? I'd opine there are far more 'nordic' commies in this country than Hispanic, after all the 'motherland' back in Europe has several socialist governments...

Well at least you didn't say Gawdless Commies.... oh and an FYI more than a river separates our two states... the steady stream of Texans coming north to give the natives their money in the casinos is a good start... :peace

The Castro twins mother was a founding member of La Raza Unida. another of many Communist backed revolutionary Hispanic nationalist groups. I don't expect the apple falls far from the tree.

Where are the commies that bother you so much? Haven’t seen any around for a while.

OMG, Breitbart and Infowars had a baby and it almost lived... if you believe that tripe you must have a bunker dug REALLLLLL deep...

La Raza that the article describes in no more and been no more since the 70's... but never let the timeline ruin a good 'nativist' whine...

I guess to use what we'll loosely call your standard, the Charlottesville tiki marchers represent ALL white folks????

Oh and that's wounded veteran Progressive to you... when did you serve this nation you fear so strongly for??? :peace
