Democrats pass on Texas in 2018

For some it is. I have two sister in-laws who live in TX. Both visited this week and told us they are voting for Cruz even though they both hate his guts. Why? Because Cruz is a known quantity--even though said quantity is sniveling, Trump groveling POS--while O'Rourke is an unknown which scares them.

Of course, Texas plays a part. In Texas they do not get much in the way of a progressive influence with which to balance all the RW stupid they are exposed to daily. Needless to say, the wife and I looked at her sisters like they were short bus riders. And, politically speaking, they are.
Sounds about right, for southern conservatists.

OMG, Breitbart and Infowars had a baby and it almost lived... if you believe that tripe you must have a bunker dug REALLLLLL deep...

La Raza that the article describes in no more and been no more since the 70's... but never let the timeline ruin a good 'nativist' whine...

I guess to use what we'll loosely call your standard, the Charlottesville tiki marchers represent ALL white folks????

Oh and that's wounded veteran Progressive to you... when did you serve this nation you fear so strongly for??? :peace

McCain used the wounded veteran card also. Not impressed that you [and he] didn't learn that open borders and foreign invaders are a bad idea.

Remember the Alamo.

I don't think I can agree. Julian already has national name-recognition. Joaquin doesn't yet, but as carefully as they seem to calculate political opportunity, I think he will.

What do you think 🤔 of your fellow ‘conservatives’ calling the Castro brothers ‘one scumbag family’ and ‘those two la raza boys’? Fine form, eh?

Congressman O’Rourke is turning the tables on the Racist and UnAmerican attacks on Black Athletes ‘Republicans’ are now calling ‘Baboons’.

Which fellow conservatives would these be?

They run the DNC.

Naturally, you have proof of this. Tell me, how left of the extreme right does someone have to be for you to classify them as a communist? I worked for a labor union, investigated civil rights violations and assisted refugees, so I am in, I assume. But how right would I have to go to redeem myself, Senator Joe?

The twin Castro brothers have to take caution in their political actions and pursuits because one can impact the other in Texas, a significantly red state.

Guilt by association is no stranger to politics. But being twin brothers in politics compound that problem. Should one discontinue his political aspirations because of his brother? Or do they both continue - but with cautious strategies?

It’s one thing to be mayor of San Antonio. It’s another being Governor, or attempting to become Governor. Campaigns leave consequences in their wake (whoever they are). In other words, if one brother runs for or happened to win the Governor’s seat, even in that situation, can impact the political aspirations of the other twin brother.

John McCain did NOT use the bastardized ‘religion’ card of the baby snatching Republicans!!!

The Vets call him songbird Johnnie. Probably why you guys love him.

Well that cinches it: a Democrat produced a slogan in English which is the same as a Chinese one. And, of course, since it has the word “new” as part of it, that exposes the New Deal as a commie plot... what can we say about all those Europeans who have embraced far more socialism than we have in the US? We’re doomed.

By the way, you never answered my question: at what point as they alter one or more of their their views to something more liberal do conservatives become communists? Republicans used to oppose government health care, that is, the ACA. Did they become communists once they added “replace” to “repeal”?

More seriously, how do *you* tell when someone is a communist? What criteria do you use to make that call?

You're out of the closet. No need for me to suspect any longer.

As the usual from your side, you're trying to convince me that the Left is not working toward some sort a People's utopia. [See the CPUSA and Democrat platform for similarities]

More like 'nativist/white power' 2, open society 0.... for now.

Fact is the tide is strong and that fear drives the white power base in Texas. However I see Texas as THE place to show Hispanics can and will be not only good Americans but great leaders both in business and politics. The longer 'conservatives' try and stop history the more bitter the fight will become and the aftermath more disruptive.

In a way it's like Sam Houston's Texas being turned on it's ear, but do not fear white folks, these 'invaders' don't want to declare a separate Republic, they just want what your grandparents wanted- a place at the table in this country... :peace

I like how you have immigrat parents Rafael Cruz pegged as side of the nativist/White power and white bread Robert O’Rourke 4th generation Irish as the new immigrant blood coming to transform Texas.

I don’t think so, Bill Clinton didn’t harm Hillary. All he had to do was disavow all of his accomplishments as president and apologize how how wrong he used to be
