McALLEN, Texas (AP) - Officials in South Texas say they're struggling to continue providing services to a fresh wave of undocumented immigrants crossing the border.

City leaders in McAllen say a support center at Sacred Heart Catholic Church saw its busiest month in October since opening two years ago, with more than 5,600 immigrants recorded.

McAllen Mayor Jim Darling tells The Monitor newspaper that the city and local groups have spent nearly $1 million over two years to provide showers, tents and other needs.

The Rio Grande Valley leads the nation as the region with the most apprehensions of undocumented immigrants since 2014.

Whatever the solution is, and hopefully it will be both humane and justice for all (including justice for all American citizens who had jobs, living space, identities, classroom space, and voting booth participation, etc. stolen from them by illegal aliens), it must be an intelligent solution, one that will not cause wage-scales to plummet as Hillary's plan would.

Here in the Austin area, they keep finding bodies [7 lately] tied to the Cartels. So much for the value of a sanctuary city.

Yet you give little credit to Mexico stopping the vast majority of these people at their southern border.

It is a true statement that there are still far too many illegal aliens entering the country crossing the Southern border.

It is a true statement that border security at the Southern border is still woefully inadequate.

It is a true statement that there are far more illegal alien residing in country than what should be.

It is a true statement that Obama tried to enact his own version of immigration reform illegally via executive order, which was alter struck down by the courts.

It is a true statement that while the vetting of Middle East refugees is thorough, there are still some which cannot be vetted, or vetted thoroughly enough, as per given congressional testimony.

It is a true statement that Hillary wants to increase the settlement of Middle East refugees at something like a 550% increase.

One can pretty easily see a similar situation with Middle East refugees in a similarly small town somewhere in America.

It is a true statement that war and coyotes are one of the main drivers of this new wave of immigrants. So, what are we supposed to do about that?

WTF is this? Who cares. The illegal immigrants coming from Mexico is likely 10x the amount from central and southern America. That's like giving someone HIV but being grateful they didn't give you a the flu.

If you physical secure the border, then it doesn't matter who's trying to cross the border. They'll be stopped.

In earlier eras, there was a vast amount of land open for settlement. It's not the case now.

What needs to change about that is to fully implement and enforce eVerify. Illegal aliens are not in the country legally, and therefore should not be working.

Regan fulfilled his part of a bargain, which was amnesty for illegal aliens then in the country for securing the borders. The Democrats in congress welshed on that deal, some 30 years later, the nation is suffering the consequences of that.

We can see in Europe, with it's refugee policies and open borders where that leads. We, the US, should learn from Europe's flawed example, and not self inflict those same problems here.

There are expenses incurred by accepting immigrants into our country.

Unlawful immigration and amnesty for current unlawful immigrants can pose large fiscal costs for U.S. taxpayers. Government provides four types of benefits and services that are relevant to this issue:

  • Direct benefits. These include Social Security, Medicare, unemployment insurance, and workers’ compensation.
  • Means-tested welfare benefits. There are over 80 of these programs which, at a cost of nearly $900 billion per year, provide cash, food, housing, medical, and other services to roughly 100 million low-income Americans. Major programs include Medicaid, food stamps, the refundable Earned Income Tax Credit, public housing, Supplemental Security Income, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.
  • Public education. At a cost of $12,300 per pupil per year, these services are largely free or heavily subsidized for low-income parents.
  • Population-based services. Police, fire, highways, parks, and similar services, as the National Academy of Sciences determined in its study of the fiscal costs of immigration, generally have to expand as new immigrants enter a community; someone has to bear the cost of that expansion.

In September 2015, the Center for Immigration Studies published a landmark study of immigration and welfare use, showing that 51 percent of immigrant-headed households used at least one federal welfare program — cash, food, housing, or medical care — compared to 30 percent of native households. Following similar methodology, this new study examines the dollar cost of that welfare use.

  • The average household headed by an immigrant (legal or illegal) costs taxpayers $6,234 in federal welfare benefits, which is 41 percent higher than the $4,431 received by the average native household.
  • The average immigrant household consumes 33 percent more cash welfare, 57 percent more food assistance, and 44 percent more Medicaid dollars than the average native household. Housing costs are about the same for both groups.
  • At $8,251, households headed by immigrants from Central America and Mexico have the highest welfare costs of any sending region — 86 percent higher than the costs of native households.
  • Illegal immigrant households cost an average of $5,692 (driven largely by the presence of U.S.-born children), while legal immigrant households cost $6,378.
  • The greater consumption of welfare dollars by immigrants can be explained in large part by their lower level of education and larger number of children compared to natives. Over 24 percent of immigrant households are headed by a high school dropout, compared to just 8 percent of native households. In addition, 13 percent of immigrant households have three or more children, vs. just 6 percent of native households.

Solution: cut off all the benefits and give them 6 months to get the **** out. After that, if caught, it's 10 in a fed pen and the forfeiture of everything, down to their filthy underwear.

The beauty of that is that no police roundups at 3 am would be needed. Also, no cost.

If you risked 10 in a slammer for overstaying, unable to work and get welfare, your kids not able to go to school, would you stay?

Do you see now how simple law enforcement can be if you mean business, or do I have to get into more details?
