One of Broward's cowards from the Parkland school shooting get's his job back....

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- A Florida sheriff's sergeant fired because he sat in a parked car during a 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School will get his job back along with back pay, according to a statement from the union that represents deputies.

The arbitrator dismissed the case against Brian Miller after finding that his due process rights were violated when Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony terminated him, the South Florida SunSentinel reported.

People that run and hide in that line of work really do not need to be in that line of work.

Good. Give the man a mop and put him on janitorial duty. See if there is any blood left to clean up.

With back pay.
Imagine the level of respect he's going to get if he ever gets back on the job.

Im sure he will do fine as a county parking meter enforcement specialist.

Yeah. Probably a level of respect right up there with a lifeguard stricken with aquaphobia getting his job back after letting several children drown without jumping into the pool to rescue them.

Stuff like this is why cops cant be trusted.

The union appears to have decided that since he was not specifically directed to exit his vehicle that it was OK to wait for the alleged active shooter to finish their mission before he took any (further?) action.

If you have to be told to step up to the plate after shots are fired in a school, then you really need to be in a job where the public safety of others does not fall into the scope of your responsibilities.

The union seems to have decided that it was a management problem.

Yeah. It is garbage like this that makes me almost want to dissolve public employee unions. Almost.

Perhaps that clause needs to be added to their union contract with an appropriate increase in pay and benefits, of course. ;)

"I have to actually protect the children in case of an emergency? That's not in my contract!"

The contract likely says respond as directed and the loyal union member was simply awaiting specific orders to take some (further) action after arriving at the call address.

You may or may not know this but this is just the most obvious example of why the police cannot be trusted to protect the public. At Sandy Hook, it took Law enforcement several minutes to arrive on site, but they didnt even attempt to enter the building for nearly a half hour...a full 20 minutes after the final shot. At Columbine High School, there was an armed officer assigned to the school. He returned fire initially when the first shooting started, but he nor any other law enforcement attempted entry for a full hour and a half...long after the two had shot themselves.

On the other hand, there have been cases where teachers or administrators received privately owned firearms from their vehicles and stopped shootings. There have been cases where unarmed teachers have bravely confronted armed would be mass shooters.

This isnt an indictment of all law enforcement nor is it meant to imply that all private citizens must be armed. But the facts are what they are.

Miller earned around $137,000 a year in 2018.

They sure didn't get their money's worth.

Why are you lying about Sandy Hook?

The first policeman arrived on the scene 2 minutes and 41 seconds to arrive on the campus. He entered the building in under 6 minutes, not 30 minutes after the shot was fired, and the official investigation showed all this. The police didn't enter the school immediately because there was a parent running around the perimeter of the school and they didn't know who it was.

I will not play the internet tough guy by claiming that had I been at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School at that moment and was armed, that I would not have hesitated and gone in gun at the ready to put the shooter down. Had I been there, I may very likely have overthought it, hesitated, and then kept on hesitating out of cold fear and self-doubt leading to more innocent people dying. But then, I have not trained regularly for an active shooter situation nor was I being paid a healthy six-figure salary with benefits for the sole purpose of protecting children from harm.

Sure. Everyone is a hero til they are at the pointy end of the stick. That being said, we have ample evidence that there are a lot of heroes out there...good men and women willing to risk their lives to save others.

Maybe the families can sue this cop for not doing his duty.

Except for Cops & Fire, I would dissolve public service unions in a heartbeat. Even while a steadfastly support private sector unions.

Yeah. He'll be a really big help if there's a bank holdup or hostage situation.

Give him a squeegee and a bucket and he can clean windshields as he walks down the line.
