Mating snakes force officials to close Florida park | TheHill

Officials were forced to close a Florida park due to the presence of snakes mating en masse near Lake Hollingsworth.

“Our Parks Division was able to receive assistance from the Public Works Department — Lakes and Storm Water Division. They have identified the snakes found by the roundabout as Florida water snakes. It appears they have congregated for mating,” the city of Lakeland’s Parks & Recreation department wrote in a Facebook post.

Perhaps snakes everywhere are gathering. I, for one, welcome our new overlords.
 
I find snakes all over my property in spring when they are mating, looking for food, but they go off and find their own little corner of the world once it warms up. Occasionally a copperhead, but usually garters blacks and the like

Male snakes tend to dine on the eggs hidden by the females, and the hatchlings when they arrive. A much better idea than you might think. Fairly common for many species, invertebrate and mammal.
 
They are harmless, however if I remember correctly they look very much like a cotton mouth and are easily confused...

The problem with snakes is, that identification becomes a secondary reaction............

I actually know that lake rather well.

Nearly circular it was used for boat racing. Miss Budweiser's owner lived by the lake.

Frank Lloyd Wright designed many buildings on the shore.
 
Interesting that no one has mentioned the other snake problem happening in Florida.

Irresponsible pet snake owners released unwanted burmese pythons or they escaped or whatever... now they're taking over ! Florida.. they LOVE Florida LOL

So Florida pays people to help get rid of them with the python elimination program - Python Elimination Program | South Florida Water Management District


The South Florida Water Management District Governing Board is taking aggressive action to protect the Everglades and eliminate invasive pythons from its public lands. That IS a great idea !

That it involves snakes, would suggest that MAYBE Bill can entice hilary to join in the festivities.... maybe she'll meet one of those nice big Burmese Pythons that are taking over the everglades and just .... stay there away from the rest of us forever !!

I am sick of Hillary Clinton pretending to care about my country, and I'm disgusted by her egregiously inflated opinion of her value. She's not valuable to the America I love; she's the polar opposite.

Not even your husband likes you, Hillary. His former paramour Dolly Kyle, in an interview with the Daily Mail discussing her 2016 book, "The Other Woman," described Clinton as a spasmodic old harridan whose husband referred to as "the warden."

Let's ask her what it's called when the wife of a serial molester protects him against the women he has beaten, raped and battered? What does she call it when the wife of a serial molester leads scorched-earth attacks against women seeking justice in the aftermath of her husband's brutal attacks?

Perhaps Hillary would like to tell us if she views it as legal to steal delegates from Bernie Sanders in the rigged 2016 Democratic primaries?

As long as "we're just asking," as she put it, let's ask about Benghazi. You do recall Benghazi, don't you Hillary? You do recall that you and Obama authorized the murder of Tyrone Woods, Ambassador Stevens, Sean Smith and Glen Doherty by refusing to send help as they were being attacked?

I'm just asking: Do you equate your Clinton Foundation's "alleged" mishandling – I say stealing – hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars in Haiti worthy of investigation? Do you see culpability regarding your actions? Do think there should be an investigation into the mysterious death of Klaus Eberwein, the Haitian official who exposed your Clinton Foundation fraud in Haiti? Just asking....
