[W:20] Legal settlement will keep Confederate statue off UNC campus

So i guess Republicans must really want Jackson off the 20. I mean, since they're all abot that sort of thing.

Trump won't swap Harriet Tubman for Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill, so protesters are doing the job - Chicago Tribune

Great! He is blocking the Democratic Party trying to hide it's creator, origins and history of mass genocide and atrocities, slavery and the most murderous, evil forms of slavery and sadism - all on Democratic white supremacy beliefs.

I think it's stupid. Nobody should think the United States has had a perfect history, but going back an litigating every decision of the past and applying today's standards of morality or enlightenment is like opening a giant can of worms--- because where does it end? Should FDR be stricken from the history books because he signed off on Japanese-American internment? Should JFK be shamed for his tepid interests in helping Blacks at the dawn of the civil rights movement?

Today everybody has to have some victim status to be relevant. Anyone so deeply offended by a Confederate soldier statue needs to get a life.

Everybody does want victim statis. Conservatives most of all. The reason they oppose taking down the statues is because removing them stokes their victim complex.

So you favor having the foundrr if the Democratic party on the 20. You don't want to remove it because you know deep down that you actually agree with the Democrats of that time.

That's not the reason why conservatives don't want the statutes taken down. "Wrong again you are" - Yoda

If you look below the surface it is. They support what the Cinfederacy was about (racism) and taking down the statues makes you feel like a victim.

Wrong again. Come on, you can go 0-3, I know you can.

Please please tell the misinformed why "conservatives" want to keep the statues of Confederate figures on public property? Just saying "Neener Neener, you're stupid!!" doesn't help the conversation.

Respectfully, I don't buy that. It just becomes something for one side to rant about.

Many of these statues have been up for over 100 years, and what we should try to do is learn about the history of slavery, civil war, and then reconstruction. The south lost because they were supposed to lose. It was right that they should lose. But in the years after reconstruction the south suffered too. Maybe it was deserved, mabye it wasn't. But what is true is that the south never took up arms again. If by having some statues of some of their heroes was important to them, then so what? The north had statues too.... not all Union generals were exactly nice guys. Don't believe me, ask some native American Indians.

Our history is what it is. Same as Roman history was what it was... but I don't see people screaming to take down statues or Roman monuments across Europe just because the Romans were often brutal.

These statue protestors jsut remind me of Taliban and Isis types--- bent on destroying history.

Were residents of the former USSR wrong when they took down atatues of Lenin? How about when Iraqis tore down the statues of Saddam? Shouldn't they have left them standing to learn from history?

The statues were not erected to honor history, they were erected to show black people who was still in control.
