Legal settlement will keep Confederate statue off UNC campus

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The University of North Carolina announced Wednesday that a torn-down Confederate monument won’t return to campus under a legal agreement that hands over the “Silent Sam” statue to a group of Confederate descendants.

The University of North Carolina System said in a news release that a judge approved a settlement giving possession of the monument to the Sons of Confederate Veterans, who will keep the statue outside the 14 counties where there are university system campuses. Silent Sam stood in a main quad of the flagship Chapel Hill campus for more than a century before it was toppled in 2018 by protesters.

Save your Confederate money boys, the South will rise again.

Another blow against the Democratic Party's Confederacy. Slavery-loving progressive Democrats will just have to keep settling for your cheap foreign slave labor produced - that the Democratic Party furiously defends like they furiously defended slavery in the USA.

Check which party has a fit about removing Confederates statues.

Then turn your brain on.

Democrats in California are pissed that hiring blafricans has become "cool", and hiring Mexicans has lost its panache'.

"Blafricans": Tip O'the hat to Gropin' Joe Biden for spinning up a new term!

Why do you support slavery and the Confederates?

Nothing says crazy and failure like people getting upset over 100 year old statues of soldiers who lost the war anyway. It's like some people don't feel relevant unless they are outraged by something. Part of the culture of "victimhood".

Democrats aren't the ones complaining about the statues being taken down, that would be you America Hating, racist, confederate supporters like yourself.

It's just Democrats trying to hide their party's past. That's why they want their party's founder, Andrew Jackson, off the $20 bill too. You are correct that many Republicans oppose Democrats trying to erase their history in the USA.

I would like you to apologize for directly calling me "a racist."

The past is out there for everyone to see. In fact, you may want to also look at how Nixon and other GOP leaders of the 1960's and 1970's actively, and successfully recruited the Dixiecrats (racist arm of the DNC at that time) into the GOP fold. It was pretty interesting; first they offered platforms to the Dixiecrats as the main DNC body opted to pull away from the past and embrace civil rights over the history of racism. Within ten years, the Dixiecrats abandoned the DNC and joined the Republicans.

The history is there for all to see...none of it is hidden, or being covered up. Please do your homework before you post next time.

The irony about the right getting all twisted up over the removal of these statutes is that they are the ones who also demand that we stand for the Flag and recite the Pledge to show patriotism to the US even though they also want to honor statues and such to people who were actual traitors to the US, fought and killed fellow Americans in an effort divide and separate from America.

The left just supports a new type of slavery - socialism.

Like other cons, you don't have a clue what socialism is or you wouldn't be saying something so stupid as no dem is advocating full socialism. Socialism is the boogeyman word for Trump supporters who can't defend their messiah Trump's unethical, corrupt and abuse of power.

Slavery under any other names is still slavery.

Who’s version do you like the most?

Slavery under any other names is still slavery.

And you clearly have no idea what slavery is either. I would suggest you go back to school, you're seriously lacking the ability to apply definitions correctly.

I think it's stupid. Nobody should think the United States has had a perfect history, but going back an litigating every decision of the past and applying today's standards of morality or enlightenment is like opening a giant can of worms--- because where does it end? Should FDR be stricken from the history books because he signed off on Japanese-American internment? Should JFK be shamed for his tepid interests in helping Blacks at the dawn of the civil rights movement?

Today everybody has to have some victim status to be relevant. Anyone so deeply offended by a Confederate soldier statue needs to get a life.

Good. One less place with icons of treason.
