Kentucky judge sides with health department, rules unvaccinated teen can't play school basketball | TheHill

A Kentucky judge has sided with a state health agency against an unvaccinated teenager who sued in an effort to return to his school’s basketball team.

Boone County Circuit Judge James R. Schrand upheld the agency’s temporary ban on unvaccinated students attending school or participating in extracurricular activities, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

The efficacy of vaccinations against acquiring diseases has been known since Pasteur. This anti-vaxxer hysteria is a sign of our troubled times. I don't know the full background here but i can imagine this kid's parents have some pretty strong opinions against vaccinating their children.

The 'hysteria' is directed against antivaxxers; it's a textbook moral panic against people whom nobody will stick their neck out to defend. Scratch the surface of any of these epidemics and you'll see that they have nothing to do with some sort of nefarious 'antivaxx' movement. Much of the criticism of them is just scientifically illiterate and completely disconnected from the actual conditions on the ground. For example, the outbreak of New York, which is burning through the Orthodox Jewish community. Jewish Rabbis don't preach against vaccination, and there is no indication that they have a high percentage of unvaccinated children in the Yeshivas. Patient zero brought the first case of measles back from Israel, and the amount of people who got it is around 134, most of them children. Do some quick math, and you see that the typical 'failure' rate of the MMR vaccine is 3%, which leaves over 1,000 Orthodox Jewish minors in New York susceptible. Orthodox communities are pretty tightknit, so expecting around 100 infections in a case like this is perfectly normal.

I saw people freaking out about the Philippines to. That one was due to unvaccinated children, but the children were unvaccinated because the parents panicked. And the parents panicked because Sanofi released a vaccine (Dengvaxia) there without the proper testing having been completed. So they didn't tell the people administering the vaccine that it wasn't meant to be applied to people who hadn't previously been infected with Dengue fever, and a whole bunch of people had really horrible adverse effects. But you see this story of a measles outbreak in the Philippines making the rounds on Facebook, and all the retards are piling on talking about how Jenny McCarthy is killing Filipino kids. They've been completely tricked into carrying water for some of the most heinous corporations on the planet (who literally used a desperately poor third world country as a human testing lab) because LMFAO SCIENCE ROCKS. I ****ing hate this country sometimes, usually right about the time I see someone share a smug meme about how antivaxx kids are all going to get malaria now.
