Police: Man killed teen who knocked on wrong door in Atlanta

ATLANTA (AP) — A man fatally shot a teenager who accidentally knocked on the wrong apartment door in Atlanta, a television station reported. It happened about 12:30 a.m. Friday at The Retreat apartment complex in southwest Atlanta, according to WSB-TV .

Omarian Banks, 19, was dropped off by a Lyft near the wrong breezeway in the complex, the television station quoted police as saying. Banks and his girlfriend had just moved to the complex and Banks wasn’t familiar with the area, police said. Banks was using FaceTime to talk with his girlfriend when he knocked on the door he thought was his. Shortly after, he walked away.

So this black kid knocks on the wrong door, leaves & is going down the stairs when the white resident came out, shouted an ethnic slur, & shot the kid with a pistol, killing him. And he is claiming self defense.

I heard on TV earlier that he was white. Hard to tell from the photo. But there seems to have been some definite racial animus involved in this clash. Black against black? A Google search turned up nothing describing the shooter's ethnicity.

Well until you do, YOU won't be able to decide how evil the murderer is, right?
 
Unless the report is false, it is cut and dried pre-meditated murder with the delay before the 2nd and 3rd shot. The only question are a life sentence, a life sentence without possibility of parole or the death penalty.
 
Atlanta, after midnight...yeah, knocking on the wrong door could end up becoming a very unhealthy mistake.

What information leads you to believe the bolded?

As far as not seeing the description, typically that means the shooter is likely a minority. If it was a white man then it would have been likely put in the headline.
 
The guy looks like George Zimmerman.I could see where he might be mistaken for being white.
 
If that story is accurate, that is disgusting, the idiot who shot him should never see the light of day outside of a prison wall again.

Why are you trying to make a racial thing about it, not to mention not even blaming Trump. Getting soft?
 
Hey apparently the shooter's truck was stolen earlier in the week. Enough to upset anyone. And then this. He felt threatened. I mean who wouldn't feel threatened by someone knocking at one's door? I know I do. Can't be too careful when the JW's show up. Never mind a kid who apologized for getting the wrong apartment and left.

Anyway, the shooter went out and killed the unarmed perceived threat after the the unarmed perceived threat had left the building on the off chance that the unarmed PT might come back and wipe out his family. Or something. Makes perfect sense to me.
 
I would be interested in the results of the results of the blood test of the murderer. It is likely they also will search any Internet postings he had made in the past of any relevance to his motives and what was in his head when he shot an unarmed person who at the time of the 2nd and 3rd shot was not defensive and deliberately to kill the victim.

No a single article refers to the resident as being white.
If the guy were white, this would be the first time in what 10? 15? years that the media doesn't point out that the shooter is white.

In other words ... it's black on black crime.
 
One must be very careful with such news.

One must wait until all the facts are presented in court.

People in certain cities are constantly on edge because of the crime statistics.

Furthermore, it was so early in the morning.

Read the story. He shouted a racial slur before he shot him. Sounds like racial animus to me.
